There are a lot of good coaches who would leave their post to coach at UF so they won't stay down long.

I agree with so many of the previous posters: I just can't see how Florida could sink into a decline that would last for too long. way too much talent in that state. on the flip side; the SEC is loaded with quality football teams that can make winning tough if you're not doing things the right way. I actually think they will have a bounce back type year this year...

I don't think UF stays down long, either.
However, one caveat to the "Florida is a talent rich state". FSU is back to elite status. Al Golden will turn the U around (if he stays there). And now UCF has become a strong second-level program. (Looks like USF has sunk back into the abyss) That's a lot of ways to split the pie of recruiting talent.

When Jameis leaves FSU after this season, FSU will fall into the same funk that Auburn and UF did after Cam and Tebow left.
Miami? LOL

UCF will never be on the level of UF.

Except this year when they surpassed you by great lengths... the also can produce a NFL qb. Culpepper and bortles >>> all 3 uf heisman qbs + shane matthews²/vjessie palmer's hair.
Florida has been a talent rich state since forever. Uf football does not reflect this. It is possible a down period is upon us, but not to UT levels... a few more 5 and 6 loss seasons is entirely achievable.

More likely UF will win more games than Mizzou this year and the next and the next and the... You get the Idea. The only reason you had success last year was UGA and UF had more combined injuries than us ever imaginable.
Once Butch gets his players , MIZZ will be mainly 5th in the East. Be honest, do you really think you can out recruit UGA, UF, USC, or UT when they are winning??
The only reason I'm being so harsh , is you question is so laughable. And such a troll!

This is not true, the rise of UF, FSU and Miami parallels the population growth of the state.

Florida will come back; jury is out on Boom, but with him or without him Florida will come back. Kiffen left TN in awful shape as did Meyer with Fla. Big difference is that Meyer had two NCs and His replacement, even with a losing season or two, is infinitely better than Dooley. Florida AD is too good to let the FB program decline; BB, baseball, women's sports are all in great shape. Football will be back on top.

Orly? Bortles will be a bust. Culpepper never got over the hump in the NFL.
Try again sonny.

Sooooo...UCF is now superior to UF in football after one year. Just one year? We aren't talking about history, right? And you are a Bama fan right? Just ONE year, ahole? One?

Culpepper the 3 time pro bowler and broke a league record in total yards... yeah just turrible. I'll let you add doug johnson, Kerwin bell, and Rex Grossman and my statement is still correct.

Who gives a shite about the NFL? You are being silly.

Poor Phat Phil....the gangbanging by SEC has most UT fans dizzy and rightfully so. AGAIN I ask..what in name of Lucifer has UT won in the past ten years? tiddlywinks? badminton? ping pong? ANSWER that question Phil or go suck your thumb in the corner of your moms doublewide. Almost all the UT fans have fled the SECr and you don't see your allies do you? They had the commonsense to stay away and not be embarrassed. Congrats...you are the town idiot.
Mizzou had a great season last year...the defense suffered huge losses and you lost two great WRs. Its back to reality TV now and welcome to 4th-5th place in the east...Mizzou reminds me of the college campus movie with John Belushi where all the geeks, Indians and misfits are kept away from the main social room of the rush party and made to stay with their own crowd. Mizzou will now be guided by UF, UGA, USC and soon UT into that back social room to intermingle with Vandy, UK, etc etc.

Florida football over the last 25 years has been the most consistently dominant program in the SEC, I really can't see anything worse than perhaps falling to LSU in the Les years levels.

People say this but I think they really exaggerate it as a way to give Muschamp a pass- fact is Florida was loaded on defense when Boom took over- as stacked as any team in the country. While on offense Florida was very good the day Boom was brought on but fell off by his first game-- largely because of his stubborn and moronic decision to ram in a pro style offense which ran off a ton of talent that was better suited for the spread.

You should learn all about our decline after Muschamp hands Mizzou their azz in the Swamp, please post afterwards. 11-1 just 2 yrs ago? What decline?
Gators are mad bro...Tyler Murphy, our second string QB couldn't even lift his arm above his shoulder without lots of pain meds against Mizzou last year....LSU roughed him up the week before..he shouldn't have even been on the field. Not saying that caused us to lose game...not hardly, we had many other injuries and Mizzou played like a house o fire.
You shouldn't be mad, it was an honest question.
The four year periods in question are strikingly similar and the consensus replies are Florida has indeed suffered a decline - albeit one that on talent alone won't be as long or deep as Tennessee's - and that Muschamp is on his last rope without at least 8 wins this year.
So instead of a bottom of 5-6 win seasons like Tennessee's decline, Florida's is more like 7-8 wins with 2012's eleven wins and 2013's four wins being the outliers.
As to our game last year... Y'all always seem to gloss over the fact we were playing our 2nd string quarterback, too. A redshirt freshman making his first start ever in the SEC - and he hung 36 on dat azz with 300+ combined yards. But that still doesn't account for how and why Missouri's DL so thoroughly dominated Florida's totally healthy OLine. Six sacks and even more QB pressures.
Face it, we beat you at your own game, SEC style in the trenches with a back-up QB. You may win this year, but save the excuses trying to diminish the breadth and width of the caning last year.

The talent in the state of Florida will prevent a Tennessee like decline, unfortunately

8 wins won't save Will Muschamp's job unless 8 wins sends Florida to Atlanta.
