Franks was always a development project, even Mac tried to get Eason on board after Richt was fired because he knew Franks wouldn’t be ready. Who was advertising that Franks was good? LSU fans? Florida fans? I’ve always heard from day 1 that Franks was a project.

Mullen got production out of Chris Relf and won 9 games. Franks can't actually be worse than him.
I call bullshite. Cris Relf was big enough to lower his shoulder and run over you. State fans would cring and close their eyrs anytime he dropped back to pass. He was basically Jalen Hurts.
Franks is nowhere near big enough to run over people.

I don’t know if Mullen can fix Franks but he has a better chance then Mac . Mac ran the same offense with every kinda QB possible . Who ever starts should do better then all the QB Mac used but Grier.

A lot of Gator fans pile on Franks....but they dont know shite about college football. Of course he was not good last year as a r/s frosh...I knew he wasn't ready to start. Well, guess what? Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel was yanked in several games as a r/s frosh and threw a LOT of picks. He also was pulled as a soph..we had a starter who was really good but cocky and Spurrier sat him. I believe Danny threw 4 picks at home against AU.
Not saying Franks will be the starter and certainly not predicting a Heisman. Mullen believes in screens and short passes...and not as many bombs as in 2017. We have 10 starters back on offense including Franks....7 back on defense...so whoever posts shite about our team having lost a lot of talent doesn't know rosters. We also have 2 WR transfers on our roster, Van Jefferson from Ole Miss and Trevon Grimes from Ohio State...plus LSU killer Tyrie Cleveland (2016 98 yd bomb) and UT killer in 2017 on last play of the game, a 67 yder. All our OL return, but go ahead and take us lightly.

Unfortunately he appears to be our best option.
No, he doesn't; I don't know why Florida fans are so insistent on thinking he's going to do anything different.
Trask looks more calm, can actually throw it over the middle of the field, has more passes in his arsenal in general and has much better vision and composure under stress.
He doesn't appear to be our best option, he isn't a Quarterback and will play backup all year. At this point I'd rather run a wildcat spread option than put Franks out there to fail.
The first interception he throws, our fanbase will eat him alive -- we need a new, clean hard drive.

Wuerffel didn't Rs.
In fact, he barely played in 93. It wasn't until 94 when Terry Dean finally got benched during the Auburn game.

The problem isn't that he can't be a good Quarterback, the problem is how much/many time, energy and games do we invest to make him mediocre?
When I served in the military, there were plenty of guys who didn't have good soldiering qualities. Literally everything from physical fitness to making your bed and personal order/maintenance are (in my mind) soldiering qualities.
Some guys came in not even knowing how to sweep and a lot of people gave them shite, but I kind of understood -- if you came from a nice family, your chances of doing your laundry, sweeping and making your bed were really low.
That's not so bad, we can fix some of those things.
The problem is when you have guys who show absolutely no soldiering qualities. Can he/she handle stress? Do they work well with others? Do they have self discipline? Integrity? Running, jumping and swimming capability?
This is the same thing with Franks. Does he check down? (no) Is he an able runner? (Outside of two plays in his entire career that were awkward, no) Does he read the defense? No. Does he understand blocking patterns/schemes? No. Does he work well in the pocket? God no. Does he protect the ball? NO. Does he scan the field? No. Can he even see the field? No. Work well under pressure? No. Does he throw it away? No. Is he quick to the line? No.
He's a soldier who can't even make his bed to code, that's not a soldier, just like he's not a Quarterback. Sorry for the rant, but we have to be realistic with ourselves.

Franks is bad. Trask is the best option. He's not losing games with his mind, Traske is a jedi compared to Franks

And I'm not saying Trask is a world beater -- but he just seems so much more composed. Even Jones looks more composed than Franks.
I don't think Franks can survive the year if he turns the ball over once every game. I think Trask will have a far fairer environment and really all he has to do is protect the ball and make safe passes.

Did FF turn the ball over once a game last year?
Posted on 6/9/18 at 6:48 pm to Errerrerrwere
He ended the year throwing 3 interceptions and fumbling it -- giving Florida State 24 points. If we would have ran it every down we might have actually won.

Sad but true. Hoping for Trask to have a breakout year! Meanwhile Jones comes in situationally to get reps.

That's all we can hope for. I wouldn't much mind running the wildcat with Toney, since he was a high school Quarterback.

Some say Mullen may be able to fix him, but I have doubts. Kyle Trask looked much more comfortable in the pocket than Franks and seems to fit the spread option better. IMHO Emery Jones is the future for UF but he may get a red shirt this fall.
pretty much what it looks like. i think mullen is gonna try to get franks in the right direction, but from the spring game it looks like trask. trask isn't a great runner, but he is big and has some mobility. best passer we have on the roster by a good margin at this point, though i like jones arm.

If Danny gets past the preseason the NFL has gone to shite.
