Again, lateral move for Mullen, upgrade for MSU with Joe Mo
MSU to Florida is a lateral move?
Its funny to see MSU fans changing their tune so much on Mullen as soon as he leaves.
I think Moorhead is a great offensive minded coach and no doubt he is recruiting much better than Mullen did, but we will see how the results look soon enough. I don't think a lot of fans realized the obstacles Mullen overcame to win as much as he did at MSU.
My gripe with him is his recruiting, we know he can get your local 3 star player and get the most of him, but to reach that next level you need better athletes and that can only be accomplished through better recruiting
We will see soon enough though

Mullen’s biggest weakness is his loyalty to his best buds Hevesy and Gonzo. Neither of them recruit well and they’re just average coaches. If he hired a real O-line coach that could recruit and a solid wr coach he could be elite. But there have been horror stories on how bad of a recruiter Hev is and Mullen doesn’t do anything about it.

That's a Mullen quote from the man himself when DC Geoff Collins left MSU to go to FL

And the fact that Mullen said that, then went to Florida himself, is the greatest troll job Mullen has ever perpetrated, and it was against his own team.

The accomplishments aren't that overwhelming, but then you remember it was at MSU.
The guy is a quarterback whisperer, and as Florida fans might be able to tell you, if you don't have a pretty good QB, you have a serious ceiling. That's enough to put him above a lot of other HCs.

I think the reason most State fans aren’t kicking rocks over him leaving is the image he protrayed as our coach. JoMo is such a breath of fresh air compared to Mullen’s antics. I just hope JoMo can uphold the consistent success that Mullen produced and maybe try to make a push and reach ATL every 3-4 years. Hopefully this could be the year, but there are some obvious obstacles.

Just leaving a job in the state of Mississippi is an upgrade by itself

WHAT?

He was an overrated coach and an asshat to boot. He was a perfect fit for State.

Dan could win championships at the D2 level

Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer were elite coaches when they took over at UF, they would've won anywhere. If UF keeps firing coaches that don't live up to the Meyer/Spurrier level he'll be fired in 3 years.

No. He rigged the system at State making sure he had 4 auto OOC wins every year, then gained a reputation as a program builder by getting State to bowl games by only having 2 win two SEC games.
Mullen is a fraud.
Mullen is a fraud.

Miss State to Florida, a lateral move?
Those couple weeks they were ranked in the CFP poll 4 years ago really inflated their ego. They've completely lost all sense of reality and forgotten who and what they are. They legitimately think they are national title contenders this year

Do they? Where did this coach come from?

Mullen will win at Florida, but their fans are gonna have to understand his recruiting. Many blue chip types may not get the warm and fuzzies when he tells them they're gonna have to work their asses off to compete.
To his credit, he judges player ability, on how they perform at camp, not on stars. This is where the "Mullen's Diamonds" saying came from.

Maybe he should change methods?

His method has worked for the most part. I doubt he changes his personality.
