Even diving deeper into his numbers he did it at fricking MSU. I think he has a decent eye for talent, and can coach players up, but he has a lot to prove to be considered an elite coach. Just because he did it at hell hole college like MSU doesn't put him in elite status.

Mullen is an average recruiter and a so so game manager. His in state recruiting
competition now also includes UCF.
Remember Mullen losing to South Alabama ? Will Florida fans put up with a similar
loss ?

Mullen’s biggest weakness is his loyalty to his best buds Hevesy and Gonzo. Neither of them recruit well and they’re just average coaches. If he hired a real O-line coach that could recruit and a solid wr coach he could be elite. But there have been horror stories on how bad of a recruiter Hev is and Mullen doesn’t do anything about it.

I agree about recruiting but have to give Hev credit for coaching. State's OL has been ranked in the Top 10 at some point(s) within the past several seasons despite mostly 3-star recruits.

We gave Muschamp another year after Ga Southern so I guess we will. I don’t know what that says about our program though. To your other point UCF isn’t a threat in recruiting they will never sign a player that, Florida really wants, not that it matters he’s getting his arse kicked by FSU and Miami in state, along with Bama, Georgia, Clemson, and Ohio State coming down and taking who they want. I want Florida to be Elite, but from my perspective it’s not going to happen with this staff, they simply do not recruit well enough.

I’m sure there are plenty of dumb Florida fans. Hell maybe I’m one of them, but I’ll let you know the first time UCF signs a kid that Florida wants. There have been kids that said no in the past at the 11th hour but never one we really wanted, not even when Frost was there. I’m not sure why you think UCF is any kind of recruiting threat to any of the big 3 or any of the big 5 schools that recruit here (Bama,OSU,Clem,UGA,Aub) because they aren’t and won’t be unless they join a major conference.

Does Georgia really recruit Florida heavily though? I'm sure they do for the occasional 5 star guy every other school wants, but you could literally fill every UGA recruiting class with 4 star players from Georgia itself, and not sign all of them.

Exceptional talents I'm sure, but unlike some of those other schools I wouldn't think they count on getting X number of players from Florida every year.

You’re probably right but they have been a common favorite for a lot of UF targets since Kirby has taken over. Seems he’s a Problem everywhere.

I've always said just like Mac he needs an all-star staff to help him. He needs to fire hevesy immediately after the year. He sucked at state and is pulling in diamonds here on the OL
