Changing the subject/flaming of texag7, but what about that Dematrius Davis kid?

Did he see any PT this weekend? How did he look?

He would have been a 3* and would not be at Auburn if his last name was Smith.

Yeah, because the name 'Nix" carries such weight in the football community

Oh and you are right, he did get the 5* 'Auburn Bump' too.

I was coaching all day Saturday and didn't see the game. From the little I've read, he made some pretty good throws, but I'm sure somebody else could give you better information.

Auburn has about as hard of time with QBs as Texas atm has with five star receivers

He got a bump because he committed to Auburn AND is Patrick Nix's kid. He had to have, unless everyone misevaluated him that badly.

He got two or three series. He looked very, very quick. Definitely a running threat. Had a really nice throw for a roughly 30 yard gain or so on a flag route with some pressure in his face.

Size is going to be a concern with him. Doesn't have a ridiculously strong arm from the throws I saw, but he looked fine.

You can't be serious. I can't think of a single time that has happened.
I doubt many people outside of my age group even knew who Pat Nix is.

Maybe. He had offers from a LOT of schools.

Or maybe...as has been discussed for the last 7-8 years, he wasn't being coached well enough at Auburn. There's a lot of evidence pointing that way after looking at the graveyard of highly rated HS QBs who disappeared after they signed with Gus. We won't really know until we see him play this season.

That's what all his scouting reports said.

He will be interesting to watch, IMO. I think he was a good get.

Looks like he's similar to Bryce Young in height (5'-10"). I don't think it's as big of a deal as it used to be with these spread offenses, but hopefully there's still some room to grow for these kids. They're still pretty young.

For the life of me I will never understand why Gus moved away from big armed, track speed QBs with triple option backgrounds like Marshall.

It's like he felt like he just had to prove he could win with a semi mobile pocket passer type.

That was never his style so he really didn't move away from it. The Mitch Mustain pocket qb is what Gus won with in high school and what he always prioritized recruiting to Auburn. It wasn't his choice to recruit Cam and Marshall was a situation where we had to have a warm body and he was the best available that would come. The real question is why after seeing repeatedly that his offense doesn't work against elite defenses and comparing it to the Marshall/Cam offense why he didn't change.

People have no clue what Nix’s options were in the passing game under Gus. Never ran routes to the middle of the field, never designed routes to get receivers open, never had a relief valve when things broke down. Nix would have thrived under Bama’s Offense with their WRs and Sarks Offense. To think otherwise is pure ignorance.

Nix?

Why should he? Y'all paid him a frickton of money to be mediocre. Now he's taking it easy in Florida and still making bank.
