Is Auburn now sort of like a Baylor?

The majority of the time I was in college and grad school, whoever won the LSU vs Auburn game represented the West in the SECCG. A decade give or take. I hated Auburn more than Bama, Ole Miss and Florida.

The last couple of years, they just seem like they’ve been unable to get it together. They feel, to me, sort of like the SEC version of Baylor now with 8-4 like expectations. Am I wrong?

They wish they could win 8 games.

It’s been tough. Auburn has lost its last 12 out of 13 one score games (6 of the last year). Talent was there, winning culture not there. Hope the ship is turning around.

ETA: and 1 of our 5 wins last year was against Baylor on their field by 14. So we are still better than Baylor!

I still hate Auburn more than any team that isn't Notre Dame for exactly this reason. Respect the program. But. I hate em.

I’ve never been a conspiracy theorist… and even while it was happening it didn’t seem quite as bad as this video.

YouTube video

This video was released today. It’s called Auburn Football vs 2025 officiating.

I don’t want to say someone in the sec office had it out for Auburn… but I mean if you watch this video it’s difficult not to make it one of those things that make you go hmmm.

But even if that were true, that’s no excuse for the YEARS before. In 2021 we finished with a losing record for the first time since 2012… and 2022, and 2023, and 2024, and 2025.

So at this point, we absofukinlutely would take 8-4 with a smile. And have a blast doing so… we haven’t had anything to celebrate in a while.

But that video man… I don’t want to say we could of won 9 games last year… I don’t want to think Freeze found out about it during the season which is why he looked like he had aged a decade from the start till he was fired… but watching film over and over and over and over again I could see where he could just feel defeated over and over and over.

8-4 for Auburn will bring celebrations. They’ve been in a drought on the Plains, 5 straight losing seasons and the worst stretch in program history. 8-4 with a shot at a decent bowl is a huge stepping stone to better days.
