No. Generally that’s around the time I start hearing the techno music pumping from Lafayette and I’m too distracted.

For many years it was Very Bad Things (1998). I’ve never watched a Woody Allen movie before about a year ago and was always skeptical that a movie named Annie Hall beat out Star Wars A New Hope for the Academy Award in 1977. So I watched Annie Hall on a streaming service about a year ago and I now have a new all time worst movie I’ve ever seen. The whinyness of Woody Allen was the culprit. Is he still alive? Can I order a hit on him?

Acclimating a caveman to 1992 Los Angeles (premise of the movie “Encino Man”) would be more practical than acclimating someone from the 1700s to 2026.

I grew up in Lacombe and went to Slidell public schools. I went to LSU then worked in state government. I worked with a lady, Donna Collins Lewis, who could not spell her own name. A few years later she was elected to the Baton Rouge Metro Council. It was at this point I knew I had to move home. We may never be able to fix federal or state government but having an intelligent, accessible local elected official is extremely important to me.

I chose Folsom so I have some room, after living a few years in Madisonville.
In St. Tammany Parish, the local government is tolerable. The mayors are usually hometown boys who are educated and care about improving their communities. They put their cell numbers out and return phone calls. Parish and city council members are usually professionals who, like them or not, return your calls too but also have a “real job”. Sure, we have our problems with drainage and roads and infrastructure, etc. due to the population boom, but my old job took me to all 64 parishes of this state and I have yet to find one that’s better run than St. Tammany.

Education is great across the board. I had one kid go to Mandeville High, one to Covington High, and one to SSA (private girls school). Each kid is different and each one of these schools provided my kids with what they needed to be successful.

Moving home after about 12 years in the workforce after graduating LSU is the best decision I’ve ever made!

There are only maybe three other parishes I’d live in in this state. I tend to think people who rip on the Northshore on this board are jealous.

Sadly, my worst experiences have all been in my home state of Louisiana:

1) South La: TIE
A) Kings Truck Stop in Port Barre
B) Pre-remodel Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete

2) North La: was driving up 167 to go to Ruston and stopped in Winfield somewhere. Bad. REALLY BAD.

What if Huey Long did not believe every farmer could go to college by putting a directional university in every nook and cranny in the state?
