Tennessee and Auburn were both open last time and we hired a "better name on paper" coach. Just because you hire a hot name doesn't guarantee they will be the best hire. More important to hire the right fit IMO.

Yes - I believe the term you are looking for is FRANtastic

Norvell is the safe back up plan

I'm not real sure if Norvell is willing to step out of a conference where he is making big waves into a conference to a school with a history of making ripples. You've had a helluva lot of coaches at Arkansas with better established head coaching resumes that Norvell. You sure Arkansas wants to put all their apples in a basket with only two years of head coaching experience to turn around a program?

BTW, I'm a huge Norvell fan. Watched him play for 4 years at UCA so this is not a knock on him.

Hiring your coach would likely be an upgrade

IF a guy can come in and recruit Dallas, I would rather coach in Arky than UT and UF. Facilities are better, you will get paid, and 10-2 would be appreciated. Historical success is way overrated.

He has some major connections to Arkansas and NW Arkansas. The rumors (realize that they are just rumors) are that Arkansas would be his dream job. I don't think he would say no because he might never get the change again.

Well that is why I listed him as the back up plan. I don't expect him to be the first call but I expect he be there if we need him. I don't think he has had so much hype that any of the schools above us in the "pecking order" would really go after him unless a ton of coaches start saying no to jobs.
