OU football and the State of Oklahoma is akin to a Buffalo Wild Wings waiter driving a $90,000 Range Rover.

You may be impressed for a short period, but then you clue in that they are driving home to a dumpy apartment, credit card bills, and a long life of frustration. That 10 minutes of bling is all they got.

If that is true it must mean a and m is akin to Fastframes. OU has a winning record and significantly more Big 12 titles, and Natties. And very few non a and M fans have ever been impressed with a n m

So far what I’ve gathered from this thread is,

Turnpike is his usual agitated self.

Aggy is well, Aggy.

Most of my fellow Sooners are wise and rational.

Mojo doesn’t speak for me.

Yes

That’s pretty much his norm.

And he always gets the last post and it’s with deflecting or says you are incorrect without detail.

Ah yes. I’ll be sure to catch the classic sooner games on the history channel. That seems to be the only thing you people can cling to. Like I said, it’ll be nice to have another ole miss in the SEC. Fans who all love to talk about the good old days.

And that translated into how many National Championships???

it’s Riley, Jeeze it’s no big secret now. An alleged Oklahoma insider came on CC board Monday said congrats it’s over and Riley told them he was going to LSU on Monday. he said there would be a private flight on Wednesday with his agent that would confirm all this. Yesterday he came back gave tail number and flight aware info that showed a plane flew from OB to Oklahoma City on Sunday then back to OB after dropping off someone in Baton Rouge yesterday.

You can't seriously think that. Besides the fact that Riley is one of the best coaches in the college game, Venables hasn't even proven he's a decent head coach.

They will be better off long term in the SEC with Venables than they would be with Riley.

You could say that he could be and I would have no problem with it. I'm very high on Venables, and from what I've heard he is making a lot of needed changes over there.

Specific to SEC play, their OL was very weak up front under the old staff. One of the first things Venables did was overhaul the strength staff.

Venables may be a great head coach and he may be a horrible head coach. It's impossible to yet know.

They may be ready for the league by then.

They’re not now, and to say they are is simply being delusional.

This league if you’re in the west is not about winning one game, it’s about playing Arkansas after Bama beat you up the week before, and they’re going to beat on you. Then LSU the week after that. Wont much matter who the opponent is the week after unless it’s Vandy, you’re going to be so beat up you’re likely to lose.

Ole Miss was a better team than Auburn, and lost because they went through a grinder like that.

In that 10 year time frame SEC teams won 5 of those championships.

The Big 12 won 2.

ETA

From the years 2002-2009 the SEC and Big 12 finished with this many teams in the Top 10:

BIG 12- 14
SEC- 19

I didn't see 2000 and 2001.

Get used to it. It is what corndog fans do. Their program is tanking right now so they grasp at anything they think will make them seem relevant again.

Don't get too upset, BUT...
How many teams do you LSU fans say this about on a regular basis on this board?

So....just for clarification are we talking the same time period the SEC had 5 claimed championships?

Christ dude, the Big 12 was 0-for the SEC in title games,
OU lost to LSU in 2003, and Florida in 2008, and Texas lost to Alabama in 2009.

Not to mention OU getting slaughtered by USCw
Congrats to Texas though for 2005

conference championships

Well, the Big 12 is one of the weakest conferences, with 4 of the top 30 teams in wins (and I included Nebraska and West Virginia)

The SEC has 6 of the top 30 (and I did not include any of the teams that joined in the last 30 years)

Probably get over it like LSU has when he wins a couple championships at his new school.

Obviously Oklahoma is more storied, but going forward Is say LSU is positioned at least as well as OU is.
