Is Anthony Grant the best Alabama can do?

I want to say no, but really, basketball will always be a third tier sport at Alabama.

Could we afford to bring in a great coach to build it up into something good so that fans would actually care?

AU and UA have great fan support in basketball. I really can't put a finger on why both programs have trouble with fielding competitive teams.

Well, when we hired him, it was considered a great hire, but he hasn't been as good as we all thought he was. I think we might be able to do better, but the more likely solution is an assistant coach coming in to help with the offense.

You can't be serious.

I can't speak for AU, but a relatively small amount of the UA population cares about how our basketball team does.

Grant is a good coach. Anyone who wants him gone is dumb.

Enthusiasm was significantly higher in Gottfried's early seasons.

I agree. I do think the recruiting/player evaluation/development needs to be improved. Y'all just don't have the horses to run with a Florida consistently right now.

Got fried always had pro players and had much better booster support early in his tenure. It was nothing for gotfried to ask for 50k for a player. Grant doesn't seen to be able to get boosters rallied like Mark could.

He's a solid coach and y'all are crazy if you want him gone.

Problem is, the best talent gets snagged by the big dawgs. Until you keep the 5 stars home, Grant is going to struggle.

He was replaced with someone better at VCU. I think Bama can do much better. There are much better coaches out there, and for cheaper. Look at how cheaply LSU got Johnny Jones for.
