2 reasons

First, because football is cyclical. It evolves. There have been power house dynasties before... maybe not to this extent, especially looking at the possible outcomes of the next few years with the players we have currently, but impressive nonetheless, and college football has evolved and recovered, in most ways, for the best part. And they are still learning ways to try to keep what we have while embracing the new as well. So I'm not worried about our lasting impact on the game in the slightest, in fact, will be proud of our mark on it.

secondly, because frick all yall. After Coach Bryant, and especially after Stallings, the collective country, tired of alabama's on and off dominance of the sport, saw our low point and the evolving climate of college football, and made sure to consistently and relentlessly remind us of both it and what they believed to be the fact that we would NEVER recover and that we were in our rightful place as the most backwards state in the country (You will never see me deny that part though). The sanctions and the Trinity of Mikes, it honestly didn't look good from the outside. Those of us here however knew differently.

We knew the dedication UA has to it's football program and its rabid, as well as fairly wealthy portion of alumni and fanbase, that share that dedication. Most importantly we knew a coach of sufficient caliber would also see and remember these things and recognize this sleeping giant, the original OG of southern football that pioneered this entire region's athletic success in both this sports early years as well as throughout its storied history. And just as we all expected here, he did and one more in a long line of coaches before him, awoke that sleeping giant and used it to wreak havoc and fear (oh yes, much fear) throughout the sport to remind everyone of the fiery crimson red dragon of the south. He may lay down to sleep now and then, but eventually someone always pokes the sleeping dragon and when they do, it usually ends with country fried goodness.

It's not anger or bitterness, it's educational. You all just need reminding now and again is all. Plus that little thing that we have to keep winning championships to keep that top mark. Maybe this time we'll leave enough padding that our next nap won't be as detrimental to our perceived legacy as the last one. The way this one looked, you all really better hope not.

So I don't know if Alabama is ruining college football or not and frankly I don't care because Alabama IS college football, and we seem to be doing just fine. Don't worry, your teams will recover.... for your grandkids.

Did the Yankees ruin baseball?
Did UCLA ruin college basketball?
Did the Bulls ruin the NBA?

Dynasties don't ruin sports. Everything eventually cycles through, and some last longer than others, but nothing is permanent.

Honestly I don't think it is good for the sport at all, but that being said I don't blame you for loving every second of it. If you are a fan of Bama you have every right to gloat.

Thanks for the long post about how an Alabama fan doesn’t think an Alabama dynasty is bad

I find it comical Saban critized Gus for years then stole his system.

Well lets say Saban retires in 5 years, and they get Dabo to replace him. I can see Alabama winning more than a few more national titles for the next 20-30 years

Can you show me a Gus offense that puts the ball in the air half as much as we do this year? We use the jet sweep. That's it. Pretty sure that play was invented about 3 days after the flanker.

Alabama isn't ruining college football, but the pencil necked geeks on the rules committee certainly are (targeting).

I agree with the rule to an extent. I feel like it's applied in situations where it isnt warranted though. I was very happy with the reversal in the bama lsu game. Kid tried to pull up, receiver lowered his body for the impact, 2 people in constant motion have very little control over which exact points of their bodies collide many times. Even a head on crown hit can be an accident as seen many times when a player lead with the helmet in his dive but angled and intended to hit with the shoulder until a last second direction change by the other player changed the whole dynamic of the tackle.

You’d think that Gus would try to steal it back.

You were hammered with sanctions the last time you were good. You’ll get hammered with sanctions again. The only thing that sucks is that as Alabama cheats it ruins college football for a brief period of time. You’ll be back to losing seasons again until you figure a new way to cheat.

Patterns of action are only viewed as conspiracy theories buy those with blindfolds.

Yes, to all that, it’s the reason I try to savor every last minute of these incredible years. It won’t last forever, but damn I’m glad I was alive for it. Roll fricking Tide

lol, different coach, different attitude. Ole Kelly himself at Notre Dame said in an interview that Coach Saban does it right. He doesn't have to cheat.

The players WANT to play for Alabama because they WANT to be part of something special. They want the exposure and the hardware. We don't have to cheat at this point.

With that said, there isnt a successful program that doesnt cheat. We just don't have to worry about it as much as most anymore. That's college athletics. Just because you don't like it doesnt mean its EVER gonna change. Any sport is going to have cheating at the highest level. The stakes are too high when there's that much money involved. Maybe you should watch the NFL. They never cheat there.
