He's 5'6" without the shoe lifts and if he's fricking Terry on a daily basis God Bless him...he's a braver man than me.

I do not think Saban could handle not working.
I just hope he decides to turn his gaze to a car dealership empire soon.
And while I do not think Alabama is now second best to Clemson, I do think Clemson has advantages right now.
I think Dabo is pretty clownish, but he is recruiting so well. Also, I think he has a greater margin of error, in a conference that is not nearly as difficult.
And then, as a comparison, if Alabama gets to the SECCG, they will likely face a good team like GA. I cannot think of any coastal division teams from the ACC that can really challenge Clemson.
So great recruiting plus an easier schedule, at least, makes their path easier.

Clemson is Florida State 2.0 without a resurgent Miami as a foil. FSU literally had to worry about one to two games a year in the 90s, and neither team that challenged them resided in the same conference (Miami and Florida). Clemson has scheduled some strong OOC games, but nothing that is in the same tier as how close Miami and Florida were to FSU during that time frame.
Unless the ACC suddenly starts recruiting at an SEC West level, they're just not going to have a hard go of it. The SEC is hard mode; the ACC is easy mode.

Well following what Bama fans claim every time they win a NC, the top team deserves to stay #1 until someone beats them. So Clemson is #1.
Besides, nothing has changed with Bama to show they could keep it any closer.
