Dude they don’t have the schedule to deserve to be called that and at this point they have played no one. Lets see how the season plays out first before all this greatest of all time talk. They have had some very good squads.

Ok, do you think '16 LSU could beat 1945 ARMY?

Honest answer?

The worst SEC team this season Arkansas, would beat the 1945 Army team by 100 points.

fricking exactly. I'd love to have a time machine and see just exactly how much more dominant today's guys over the dudes who were 5'9" 180. Right? Holy shite, it wouldn't even be close.

They could literally run the ball every down for the entire game and score at will. This is a joke. 300 lb lineman weren’t even the norm until the 80’s. It would be an absolute bloodbath.

That criteria is called "Best college football team since 1985". That's in a different thread, not this one.

Not if they can't beat anyone post 1985. I'm sorry, 1945 Army is not beating 2012 Auburn. Or any of the worst teams you can name since 1985. So therefore, that would disqualify them as the best team ever. It's just not the same game with the same athletes.

I mean if the team you named can't beat anyone 40 years later, idk wtf the 1985 delineation has you so upset about, but that would be "best ever, no? So, what. The hell. Are. You. Talking. About?

That 2012 Auburn team was really awful

I know. That is the point. The average athlete in 2012 is absolutely light years ahead of the average athlete in 1945. It isn even close. Plus, they did not even allow the best athletes to play back then. Name anyone from 1945 ARMY that is running AT LEAST A 4.75 40....I'll hang up and wait, because it's not happening.

Google the avg weight of the 1945 ARMY o-line and d-line.

You can't compare them and anyone trying to is just delusional to their time to feel better about themselves

Why are we trying to compare teams from different eras again?

Am I taking crazy pills?Because user Woodreaux said 1945 ARMY was the best team EVAR...

And this is literally from my last post

You can't compare them

But Woodreaux knows 1945 ARMY is the absolute best.

IF Bama goes 15-0 and IF they win every game by double digits.

THEN you have a legit argument.

His point is probably, "the best team relative to their peers" rather than, "the best team ever assembled". I probably wouldn't agree with that assessment, but I think everyone understands the intent.

No shite. The average athlete in 2012 was light years ahead of players in the 70s and 80s. It's like when people try to convince me Wilt Chamberlain was the GOAT NBA player when he was competing against a bunch of 5'10" white guys with crewcuts that all smoked two packs of unfiltered Camels a day and worked as Teamsters in the offseason.
It's silly to compare athletes across generations like that.
