so much doom and gloom in this thread.

hate to break it to yall, but college football has never been more popular and more watched than it is now.

no I don't like what is happening to Iowa St but that can be fixed with 2-3 year NIL contracts and transfer fees.

the future is bright

Nope.

And I see you don't disagree with anything I have said.

Probably b/c they are facts. Schools like Bama cheated so much they broke college sports a long time ago.

The only thing NIL did was shine a light behind the scenes and allow everyone to pay players. So what does Saban do? lol Tries to claim allof the sudden now college football is broke? WTF? HE FUGGIN BROKE IT!!!! You'll say b/c he was such a good coach. lol Nope. It's b/c Bama was such big cheaters.

You know it. Saban knows it. I know it. We all know it.

Exactly. But now that schools like Indiana are paying players all of the sudden people like my WIFE who is a Bama Alum are scared and mad b/c schools like Indy-FUGGIN-ana! are good.

The dirty secret is that Saban, Osborne, Carr, Paterno, Switzer, etc were nothing but some of the best cheaters. Reminder also they were cheating to win college football! lol Fuggin losers.

And now that schools like Oregon and TX Tech are winning the blue bloods want to cry that NIL broke college football. It's fuggin hilarious.

That's one way to look at it. But there are 1,300+ players already looking for a new landing spot and the portal hasn't even opened yet. So, it's also a chance to offer immediate playing time, which will entice plenty of folks.

This is why we're seeing worse football across the board in college. You can't put out a good product replacing large chunks of your team every year.

I feel bad for Iowa State. They're one of Mizzou's oldest rivals, and their fans deserve so much better than this. If Mizzou didn't have two big metros bookending it, we could've been left in the same situation. It's going to get pretty bleak for the smaller ACC and Big 12 programs who are going to continue to lag further and further behind as the B1G and SEC continue to consolidate power.

Everyone will eventually. The role of scouting 1,500 players + HS ranks, zeroing in on who you think can help you win from one year to the next and negotiating deals can't fall on the coach. His job is to develop those players and have them ready to execute on Saturdays.

non coaches and/or guys who never played football in college are incapable of judging P4 level football talent

all scholarship offers will still go through the coaching staff

I personally paid them a bonus every time they humiliated whatever shite team you root for(probably LSU). Nick personally called me and gave me the list of players to pay their charger payments on. I even threw in some for the longsnapper

Athletically, the game is better than ever. And, so far, those who've handled the portal well have been able to plug and play at nearly every position. The lone exception has been OL. And, I'd agree the lack of chemistry there has hurt the on-field product.

The only association these men and women have in college athletics with the school is the name on the jersey. It is an absolute open free agency market with no restrictions. As such, I don’t think anybody with a good conscience can say they are pulling for their “school’s team”. There is no School loyalty, pride, association, or sweat equity anymore to and for the school. The current system of college athletics is absolutely broken. Been an Auburn guy since I was four years old (42 years) and I can’t even get excited or disappointed about any team because it’s going to be a completely different team next year.

Long gone are the days of watching a kid come in as a freshman and matriculate his way up the roster. It absolutely sucks.

It was obvious that the current system was broken two years ago when Saban retired. It’s always funny when it happens to someone else, but CFB has got to be completely revamped when it comes to NIL and the transfer portal.

Whats even more obvious is anyone who thinks that Indiana and Vanderbilt are the new norms is missing the forest for the trees. Yes, there is an open window at the moment and it is great for fans of long suffering teams but anyone who doubts the same group of miscreants which have been at the top of CFB for most of its history, over and over again, do not prove to be more able to deal with the changes in CFB and once again rise to the top, is woefully mistaken about how those programs do what they do. The water in Tuscaloosa is just like the Water in Los Cruces New Mexico....it ain't the program its the culture. Alabama is, in my opinion, about to introduce Indiana to the realities of what playing at this level is all about....because Alabama players and staff are there because they expect to be there....while Indiana is secretly amazed at being there. When something goes wrong for the Hoosiers, and its a 60 minute game, something is liable to go wrong. Indiana better get over it immediately or it will snowball....meanwhile Alabama may be down 2 scores with 2 minutes left in the game and every swinging dick on the Alabama side will fully be expecting to win....it makes a HUGE difference.

I agree the athletes are better, but that doesn't translate to better team play.

That's the main thing bringing play down, but it's far from the lone exception.

95 Nebraska would still beat 2025 teams by 40 even with the increased size of players and fancy new schemes.

That team had a killer Oline that teams today cant even touch

Look, I don't know you, so take this with a grain of salt, but if Alex Golesh has Auburn undefeated going into the Iron Bowl, I suspect you will be plenty excited. College football fandom is based on loyalty in a way that the NFL just doesn't touch, and it will remain that way.

I say this because I was plenty excited watching LSU at the beginning of the season, but was questioning my sanity watching the WKU game or the Texas Bowl.

(I do realize that I am lucky that LSU still plays traditional rivals. I can't imagine being a Southern Cal or UCLA game trying to get excited for playing Purdue or Rutgers.)

Agree with this, and if the powers that be would cut the transfers to once during the undergraduate years, it would go a long way to fix the problem.

Just my opinion. War Eagle.

Saban told everyone what was going to happen years ago and I guess people just didn’t care. He needs to be in a position of authority in CFB and get some of these other jackasses the hell out

Yeah......maybe. But pretty sure tOSU thought they'd roll Indiana as well as Oregon. But here were are.

I do think that if Bama and Indiana switched coaches Bama would win for sure. Pretty evident whatever Cignetti is selling his players are all in.

You talk about culture but the only reason a school like bama or tOSU has 'culture' is b/c of all the previous cheating they've done. It's just a fact.

It was never and never will be about culture dumb dumb. It's always been and always will be about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Why is that so hard to understand?
