Good grief. That'll teach me. I logged off at about 2 cause I'd let a bunch of stuff pile up here.
I missed a real bombshell.

Would you be mad if Cam was ruled ineligible and you had to forfeit or vacate your dream season?
Absolutely. But I'd be pissed with Cecil and Cam for being retarded, not at Kenny Rogers.

You really should. I was the first Au poster here to admit guilt.

I honestly hope that nobody at AU is involved in this. It would suck for the conference, as a whole, if so...
God, I do to. I said in another post that I would glad vacate every win this season if it was confirmed that AU did nothing wrong except unknowingly play an ineligible player. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Assuming that Auburn did not pay the Newton's, I would think that Auburn is in trouble as an institution only if they knew about Cecil's solicitation and played Cam despite that knowledge. In that circumstance, Auburn knowingly played an ineligible player and would be punished for that.
Well - Auburn knows that there is high suspicision now that Cecil solicitied cash for Cam. Will Cam play on Sat?

quote:what a load. FYI, Pratt was not allowed bc his HS transcripts were tampered w/ to get him eligible. Rueben's dad in no way shape or form said Benton was shady.
That is what we know. There are several rumors surrounding this situation.
1) Benton never went to his job, yet received a paycheck anyways. He probably didn't pay for his apartment, either.
Some say this is what happened with Hicks, and possibly also with Dexter Pratt.
We never found out if that was true or not. Some say Les knew. Others say McCarthy had gone rouge.
What we do know is that Les sent both Benton and McCarthy packing.
2) There was that whole thing with Rueben Randle's dad. He basically said Benton was shady, and there was no way Rueben was coming to LSU if Benton did, also.

Auburn is fricked!!
Timeline:
Night before egg bowl nov 27, 2009 - 2 MSU coaches meet with Kenny, Cam and Ceil where Ceil says it would take between 100k-180k for MSU to get Cam. Reported today nov 11, 2010 by kenny rogers on espn Dallas radio
Cam Newton signed with Auburn on Dec 31, 2009.
Miss State turned him in to the SEC in Jan 2010.
The SEC requested further info from State and received it in July 2010.
It's clear the Newton's were shopping Cam's services to several schools.
Stacey Osburn told The Birmingham News by email that "the solicitation of cash or benefits by a prospective student-athlete or another individual on his or her behalf is not allowed under NCAA rules".
And it took 7 months for MSU to come up with the information to give the NCAA and this coincides with MSU dealing with Renardo Sidney and Dee Bost affairs, right?
What's even more convincing is that MSU is admitting their own NCAA violation by Kenny Rodgers(an ex-player so technically a booster for State, being involved with Cam's recruitment.

As you dang well should be.
Hell, my dang AU friends are mad as hell at ESPN, FoxNews, John Bond, Kenny Rogers. They STILL today have no ill feelings for a man (pastor) that there is heavy suspicion may have shopped his own son to play football. It simply baffles me.
