Or maybe the NCAA wanted to set a precedent that you shouldn’t play college football for 6 years. Asthma sucks but that doesn’t mean you should get a pass because you can’t get an easily controllable disease under control. Lots of guys sit on the sideline for a whole year and those years count.

That's part of the problem with the argument. There are guys that have played upwards of 8 years with multiple medical redshirts. They decided to draw an arbitrary line and it did not hold up under scrutiny.

Not really. The NCAA didn’t really fight very hard. They didn’t want to let a 6th year go without looking like they were fighting it. But the facts are still true he deserved a 6th year. The NCAA just didn’t want to approve it and have percent for hundreds of players wanting a 6th year for no reason.
