Quit reading here.

What incentive is it to finish 1st over 2nd?

They'll be times when you'll have to use some silly tie breaker to break ties between 2nd and 3rd.

I hate the permanent 3. Unfair split as well. If you try to split up "The big 6" evenly, then that will leave schools like Ole Miss playing Vandy, KY, and USCe every year, meanwhile we are all hearing about LSU having to play Bama and Florida every year.
Not to mention why do we want 3? There are only a couple of schools that have 2 main rivals, definitely not any with 3.

Great job. I would vote for this everyone gets equal difficulty. And no one too easy . Ms state gets a tough schedule but not everything is fair and those are close schools and no real must have match ups for msu aside from egg bowl.
Submit to the committee please

Two of the longer running series in SEC football are…

112 games = Kentucky vs Tennessee
089 games = Kentucky vs Vanderbilt

Historically protecting the top 2 teams in the SEC

Alabama = Tennessee + Auburn + Ole Miss
Tennessee = Alabama + Kentucky + Vanderbilt

Sort the rest out from there.

This is the lamest idea for anybody.

1 - You will need NUMEROUS tie-breakers.
2 - You will have VERY FEW common opponents to compare. Right now, divisions lets you & another team have 5 games to work with.

Do we have a scheduling problem? Yes. But letting teams do a "free for all" makes it even WORSE!

Interesting idea on VOLS radio today re: divisions and scheduling
I could be way off base but I thought the NCAA had some asinine rule about divisions in conferences and conference championship games

It DOES! 12+ school conferences MUST HAVE DIVISIONS in order for a championship game. The B12 recently got the okay to be exempt (despite all of their members play each other yearly).

I wonder if you could petition for an exemption. This isn't a bad idea.

You left off the WLOCP between UGA & UF. So that's why I removed LSU.

Does anyone know who LSUs most played Football opponent is? That's right Mississippi State.

It's also Alabama and Ole Miss's most played opponent.

Not playing would interrupt MSU-LSU but that's a pretty tough one for MSU as it is.

I grew up in Tennessee, and no one gave a shite about Kentucky during football season. Also, Alabama has played Miss State close to 40 more times than we've played Ole Miss, and Starkville is only about an hour from Tuscaloosa.

I posted earlier in the Bama basketball thread that these should be the permanent home and home opponents in basketball. Maybe you'll like them better. It's only got a few differences

Alabama: Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee

Arkansas: Missouri, LSU, Texas A&M

Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Miss State

Florida: Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky

Kentucky: Tennessee, Missouri, Florida

Georgia: South Carolina, Florida, Auburn

LSU: Texas A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss

Ole Miss: Mississippi State, LSU, Vandy

Mississippi State: Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn

Missouri: Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas A&M

South Carolina: Georgia, Florida, Vanderbilt

Tennessee: Vanderbilt, Alabama, Kentucky

Texas A&M: LSU, Arkansas, Missouri

Vanderbilt: Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Carolina

I LOVE THIS IDEA, but I have a scenario that would be a nightmare.

Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, MSU permanent

Ole Miss, South Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky, A&M

SEC Record: 8-0

Florida: Georgia, Auburn, Tennesse permanent

A&M, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Auburn, Vanderbilt

SEC Record: 8-0

LSU: Ole Miss, A&M, Arkansas permanent

Mizzou, Auburn, Kentucky, MSU, South Carolina

SEC Record 8-0

Maybe unlikely, but who plays in the SEC Championship game?

If you get rid of the two divisions in the SEC you can't have a championship game by NCAA rules. They require schools to play every team in their division or every team in the whole conference to go to a championship game, and the SEC has too many teams for the latter.

YOU GET MY POINT!!!

However, there is a problem with your example: Fl. has Aub. as perm. & group of 5.

But using what you gave (common games):
Alabama: nobody
Arkansas: 2 (Ala./LSU)
Auburn: all 3
Florida: nobody
Georgia: Fl.
Kentucky: all 3
LSU: nobody
Mississippi St.: 2 (Ala./LSU)
Missouri: LSU
Ole Miss: all 3
South Carolina: 2 (Ala./LSU)
Tennessee: 2 (Ala./Fl.)
Texas A&M: all 3
Vanderbilt: Fl.
