Whoever made the criteria for that is literally retarded if they think Venables had one of the better situations coming in. He had a mass exodus of players including the QB who went on to have one of the better college seasons of all time the very next season

Meh, dumpster fire is a relative term. By OU standards? Maybe I guess. But it's pretty easy at OU to turn around any situation with even a somewhat competent coaching staff and their schedule akin to the difficulty of a tutorial mission in a video game.

I would still say even with the turmoil OU was experiencing at the time, the path back to a 10-win season was easier than it would be at any SEC school that hypothetically fired its coach tomorrow minus Bama, UGA, and LSU purely by virtue of them being a massive fish in a tiny pond at the time.

I'd like to know where Saban would fall on this given how shitty the roster was in 2007 and the fact that he had to deal with multiple suspensions over the textbook scandal. I wonder after seeing Moorehead and Freeze's names on here and knowing they probably inherited a similar level of talent.

A&M's next coach will likely be "Born on Third" or very close to it depending on the portal goes.

Are they judging talent based on high school recruiting evaluations?

Also, look what Brian Harsin did to Hugh Freeze

Harsin inherited a team close to what Kirby inherited at Georgia.

Freeze inherited a team close to the talent of Georgia Tech.

frick Brian Harsin.

This is a shite graph with no useful context.

BV inherited a pilaged team and no way in hell was it that high. To add context Riley inherited a title team from Bob Stoops with a Heisman qb and other great players.

BV lost both 5 star qbs and had no qb on roster other than walkons and had to go to portal to find one.

Are they adding the new coaches portal additions? If so thats a flaw because adding new players is not inheriting players.

Garbage graph.

Yeah how do you inherit transfers you actually recruit to the program.

and this is why I am fine with Shane Beamer having a rough 3rd year. He didnt inherit a lot, and did well in years 1 and 2.

Sticking with the baseball analogy Saban inherited a team still in the field, with nobody out.

Ed Orgeron did similar to Brian Kelly and had a national champion in the process. How wild is that?

(Can anyone tell me what "inherited ELO" means?)

Marcus Freeman can't possibly be at number 4. We all know Brian Kelly can't recruit.

Of course he couldn't, which is the only explanation I've heard as to why he has never won a championships in FBS.

Multiple schools appear more than once in the top 25. USC, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida (3 times) are all dream destinations for most coaches.

Other schools like Oregon, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Florida State have also made multiple hires since 2015, but only once did the new coach inherit a roster with enough talent to crack the top 25 on this list.
