Interesting fact - A&M’s fight song is about Texas

Georgia Tech's is about UGA.

So schools have traditions and songs about their rivalries?


I’m shocked


Did you know that UT created a hex rally to jinx Texas A&M every year?
Or that they named their mascot the Longhorn after Texas A&M’s yearbook
Their fight song was inspired by and written to help their fans and players not feel depressed about Texas A&M and Texas A&M’s fight song?


These things usually happen and rivalries, although ours was one-sided during the leather helmet days

You should know your own Texas fight history before you criticize made up words

A rare commodity these days.

When I was in grad school at Texas, the A&M rivalry was a bigger deal than OU. At that time, though, Peter Gardere was doing his thing in abusing the Sooners and A&M was in the middle of winning 10/11.

The OU game has meant something beyond the rivalry itself for much more of the history than the A&M game has. It will be interesting to see how things shake out if and when the rivalries have similar results and significance.

Ours talks about running up the score, something I know nothing about as an LSU fan apart from maybe 2 years in 40.
