I think a lot of you Tide guys are reading this all wrong. I don't really see how the Jimmy Johnson first year doesn't line up with what Forde was saying. He didn't talk about the future with DeBoer or say that his new high school coach wasn't ultimately successful. Didn't say he was, but he was just talking about the one year afterwards. Kind of weird what you're reading into it.

I wish Alabama would be dumb enough to fire him. He’s obviously a good coach. He was easily the best coach on the market last year.

You misread the quote. What in that quote says something different than what you're saying in the first couple of sentences.
Regarding Saban, come on man. You guys won the SEC or NCship every year but 4 years from 2009 to 2023. You get silly when you start trying to run down what Saban accomplished in his final years. It's nuts.

Totally agree. Forde is just talking about this year and how he felt as a senior with a new coach replacing what in his mind was a legend. He's just talking about now. If I'm a Bama fan, that would actually be a much better thing to believe than to think DeBoer is soft or letting the players run over him. But to each their own. Trying to blame it on Saban is just dumb.

Even shittier than that was when we were 48 point favorites to an FCS team and almost lost the game straight up.
Large conclusions should never be drawn in an SEC coach's first season. Year 2 is when every great coach in the SEC from the last 30 years started kicking arse. Probably wait until then.
