Sure it does. Roll Tide is used as a meme to call out the stupidest posters on most forums. Want to guess where that association came from?

Why should that bother me? Your (their?) opinion of our fanbase has no relevance.

If every idiot in America wants to donate money to the University of Alabama, scream roll tide, and get a tattoo on their forehead - then that's fine by me. The University as a whole, is better for it. We thank them for their patronage.

I'm a sidewalker that doesn't rock a lot of LSU garb.

But my sidewalking family does buy me a lot of it. I just choose to box it up in the attic, with the exception of a hat or t shirt or 2.

but you are spot on

Who cares? I just want Bama to win. Who roots for them is important why? Besides, all of us calling each others fans rednnecks sidewalkers, etc. is just stupid. Seen plenty of fans of every team that you wouldn't want to claim. ALL of us.

We set up our tailgate outside the north end zone. The Gameday clan comes over when the show is done. Out of the 15 people there 4 of them are UA grads. Others went to Troy, JSU, West Al because thats all they could afford. Not a soul in that tent makes less than 200K a year and drives less than an SUV made last year. Everyone around us is pretty much the same. People you speak of cant afford games and go only when given tickets to them. THat doesn't make you less of a fan. I doubt all the ND fans in the world attended.

As Tax payers, we fund the schools we cheer for. EOT

(Unless its a private school, then that's definitely weird to be a sidewalk fan of such school....like Duke)

Why do people look for this thing that makes them bigger fans than the other? I mean it doesnt make sense that just because you were enrolled into the school at one point that you somehow have stronger sentimental value with your team then the next. I think yall are just full of shite and looking for reasons to make yourself seem like your more than the average fan. You dont have to attend the school to love it. Quit your elitist b.s. To put it out there i will be attending LSU next fall. But still the whole sidewalk term doesnt make a lot of sense and isnt really used by "normal" people.

Under normal circumstances, I agree there is no need to differentiate between sidewalk fans and grads, but there is more to it than this. When Arkansas went thru the fiasco with Petrino, there was a large contingent of "win at all costs" types who were very vocal about keeping him. Most of these were sidewalk fans who had never stepped foot in a classroom. They have no vested interest in the University outside of sports. The commitment of alumni usually runs deeper than just fandom. I suspect you will see this a little differently once you graduate.

Well, the problem is, most people choose a team to pull for before they actually go to college. You know, when they are kids. Once it is time to go to college, what kind of idiot would choose to attend a school based on their fandom of the schools athletics? If you are doing it right, you choose a school that is best suited to prepare you for the profession you have decided to go into.
So, I never see any reason to hold it against someone if they cheer for two schools (the one they attended and the one they grew up cheering for). I would say if someone actually cares if someone is a sidewalk fan or not, it says more about them than it does the sidewalker.

I am technically a sidewalker. I did not attend the University in Oxford. I chose Ole Miss when I was kid as my favorite college sports team but I chose a major that Ole Miss just does not have. My only technical affiliation is that I worked at UMC in Jackson for two years.

So yes, Ole Miss does have some sidewalkers.

Unless you're a Bama fan in Louisiana, or a Tennessee fan in Alabama, or an Auburn fan in Georgia, in which case you're funding your rival team
