And have to settle for #2 Mel Tucker of Michigan state

Well there you have it, I guess Jimbos new contract was a good idea since LSU is desperate to get Jimbo right now

quote:

"The LSU [coaching search] is really interesting because even though Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M had said he plans to remain on at A&M and that kind of doused a lot of the speculation that Scott Woodward, the AD at LSU, would be able to hire him again," explained Feldman. "Remember Woodward when he was the AD at A&M was able to pry Jimbo Fisher away from FSU. "From what I'm hearing from people around LSU is that Scott Woodward is not giving up easily. And he feels like he may be able to pull Jimbo Fisher again even though the A&M people are like 'no, that's not happening.' So we'll see how that plays out." The possibility of stealing away Fisher seeming more and more difficult after his newest contract extension was signed earlier this year. If Woodward is not able to get his man, Feldman believes LSU insiders have begun to support bringing in another member of the SEC coaching tree. Michigan State's Mel Tucker could be the man for the job. "Mel Tucker is a guy that has obviously had a terrific year and done a really good job turning around Michigan State," Feldman continued. "He's a former LSU assistant, former Nick Saban assistant. He is very well thought of by a lot of people inside LSU, especially some really influential people. But ultimately this will be Scott Woodward's hire. Can Jimbo Fisher really say no to him? We'll see.

I mean I guess if he can take a historical bottom feeder and finish 2nd in the West, then he would probably kill it at LSU.

I'd still rather have Tucker, Aranda, Ruehle, or Kiffin though

I hope he declines, he'd be dumb to leave anyway.

aggies reaching for straws. All this jimbo talk is bullshite and TCU is more of a threat than LSU.

Besides, jimbo has hit his ceiling with the aggies.

He will.

There is absolutely no chance he'll leave A&M right now for LSU. LSU is historically a better job than A&M. Most of our history, it's been a far better job than A&M. When things are good at LSU, it's easily a top 5 job in CFB.

But A&M is an exponentially better job than it used to be, and LSU, currently, is a tough and unknown environment for a coach to enter.

Anyway - I'm not trying to troll LSU. But there is no chance that, right now, Jimbo will leave A&M for LSU.

If I was LSU I would be horrified at the idea of trying to hire Jimbo. not because Jimbo isn't a good coach, but because there are so many better options out there that are still ascending in their career. Jimbo has peaked already.

What’s higher in 2021? LSU win total or the number of times Jimbo says no

Hope you're right.

My top 5 would be:

1. Fickell
2. Aranda
3. Napier
4. Tucker
5. Kiffin

Four years in and the tamu faithful are talking about how great the program is doing and how Jimbo has them positioned well…. All while ignoring the fact that they have two losses before playing a single game in November.

Oh look. texag7 and Old Sarge talking about LSU.

Funny that grads from Houston and Blinn Community College are so wrapped up in the LSU coaching search.

It's hilarious to me how many posters on this board try to talk themselves into this narrative, completely ignoring both the situation into which Jimbo walked, how his teams have exceeded expectations each year he has been here (sans one), how he navigated the loss of our starting QB (and six total starters on offense) early this year to turn this into a pretty good team, and how he is literally on the verge (at this exact moment in time - I'm not talking future projections) of having A&M recruiting at the level of Georgia and Alabama. Unless we fall on our faces to close this year, we're going to finish with a top 3 recruiting class.

"Insiders" does not mean this is actually happening, as we've seen with every coaching search ever.
