you do know that the last time we played in tiger stadium LSU outrushed bama. So, LSU has had recent success rushing the ball VS the tide.

In fact three of the four games in baton rouge since saban took of the tide LSU has outrushed bama heads up.

Tigers have run the ball against bama in the past and will do so again in '16.

I'm excited every year, I just have completely refrained myself from buying into any preseason hype. There really is no way to know until the ball is kicked off week 1.

Do we have everything in position to be a team that should compete for a playoff spot? Absolutely. We return a ton of talent defensively, have one of the best backfields in the country, and get the game that has made or broke our season at home. We've had similar talent in past years and come up short.

As has been said for LSU over the last 10 years, solid QB play and there is a good chance we find ourselves in the final 4. Nothing new, but hopefully the results will be.

what DOES have have the lot of you excited about this year other than a generally consistent Fournette?
* DC Dave Aranda. (Still can't believe we dumped Steele on Auburn, picked up Aranda, then plucked an AU Alumnus QB from the staff who was their best recruiter)

* Lots of returning starters.

* Legitimate back-up QB who is a better Passer than the starter. (Can't run as fast so he'll have to be patient until BH shows that he can't get it done or is injured again)

Concerns: HC and starting QB short-medium passing game skills.........

LSU's issues and concerns:

QB play : no explanation needed

WR inexperience : Diarse and Quinn transferred... Don't count catches made by RBs or TEs and you quickly see how few WR receptions are coming back.

LB depth : This is the biggest concern behind QB play imo.

DL inexperience: Valentine won't be in the middle so Lawrence and some others will be thrown in the fire ... That's asking a lot in this league.

th diarse and quinn transfers hurt depth but arent huge hits to on-field production. diarse was a decent 3rd receiver at times. quinn is probably 5th or 6th on the depth chart if he stays.

Uh, what?

Departing:
Diarse (28 catches, 412 yds career, 13/132 last season)
Quinn (22, 276 yds career, 5/83 last season)

Returning:
Dupre (57/1016, 43/698)
Dural (72/1436, 27/533)

Absolutely a concern. A bigger concern than QB play IMO. God forbid, if Beckwith goes down they're pretty screwed. Multiple freshmen in the 2-deep plus some less heralded recruits in the upper ranks.

LaCouture, Godchaux, Neal are all returning starters. The latter two of whom were excellent last season. Lac is solid in his own right.

2015 stats:

Malachi - 40+ receptions

Chark - 0 receptions

Dural - 28 "

Ferguson - 0 "

Gage - 0 "

Tyron Johnson - 9 "

I'm sure they're all fantastic blockers but stat wise it's something that should be listed as a concern.

We should be better than last year (not a high standard to meet) if only because of the defense. Last year's defense was one of the worst we've had recently, only a little better than the 2008 unit. This year we have a better coordinator so the unit should improve despite the continuing lack of depth and top-tier talent in the front seven.

Offensively...well, we can't get any worse. Special teams should be about the same as last year.

So, I suppose the reasoning is that with a better defense, even if we don't improve anywhere else, we should be better. I have no idea where anyone is getting 11-1 or 12-0 from or any chance whatsoever against Alabama or Arkansas. I guess just chalk that up to normal fan delusion.

Even though we should be at least as good and probably better than last year, I don't expect a better record. Florida and Auburn on the road are much tougher than at home like we had last year. It doesn't matter where we play Alabama and Arkansas because we always lose to Alabama and are always complete garbage the next week for whoever the lucky beneficiary is (Arky again). Wisconsin is also a much tougher OOC opponent than Syracuse was last year. We at least have a chance against Ole Miss this year because they probably aren't as good as last year and we play them before the Alabama game instead of after, but that will still be a very difficult game. All things considered, I would guess we lose four games instead of three this year even though we may have a better team than last year.

we dont pass that much. chark and johnson would easily have been ahead of quinn. so again what i stated was correct.

Valentine I am thinking will be on the team this season. Unless there has been some new update.

You are correct. We have no idea what impact he will have at this point but he stated it like it was a fact that Valentine won't be in the middle.

It's not a fact.

LSU fans are excited because they have another slim chance to score in Fayetteville, AR for the first time this century.

1 Aranda
2 returning upper class men
3 the wake up call that (please dear God) struck enough fear into Less. Get out of the offense. No one except the opposing D wants you to call short side toss dive every other f'n play

Ethan Pocic
Tommy Clapp
Toby Weathersby
Maea Teuhema
Derrius Guice
are similar quality on the offensive side.
Our QB is returning after a solid first year of starting. Add in a great recruiting class, and that explains it.

You have quite a few errors

1) its Will Clapp not Tommy
2) you mention Savion but not Kevin Tolliver II? you know, the guy that started as a true freshamn last year.
3) Weathersby and Donte Jackson are both unproven so they dont really fit into your narative of dependable players.

Im an LSU fan and hoped you would make a good point but it all goes to waste if the info isnt accurate.
