Not even close. He just set the Bama fans up for a huge decade or more meltdown. The Bear done it and Saban made it alot worse. We get to hear what Saban done every time Bama doesn't win a NC or another sec team does.
The stupidity of this is amazing.
I'm sure most Bama fans would love to trade our results with the barns results over Sabans tenure.
Do you even read the dumb shite you post?

Maybe you weren't around before Saban and heard Bama fans every year and their claims of being the best team in the nation no matter what and then talking about the 17 NCs they had.
The stupidity of this is amazing.

The NIL was birthed by a spoiled generation and Federal courts. Conference realignment happened initially because the ACC took out the Big East, which predated Saban at Alabama. Then Texas decided to push its weight around in the Big 12.
Saban is the best coach in the history of college football and nobody is going to come close to his body of work, however, in this case you are crediting him for things he had no part in.

Without Nick Saban there's a high probability that Kirby Smart would not even be involved in coaching football at any level right now. Kirby would have got a job with a hack head coach been fired in 2 years and ended up selling insurance near Athens.

Tuberville would probably have retired on a high note and we would still have one of his dc's as a HC. We would be better off and the NIL wouldn't be around.

Meh… now that everyone pays players, not just Bama, we are realizing Saban is good but not as good as when he has all the advantages.

The man made Alabama so dominant that he literally changed college football forever. Think about all the coaches hired and fired because of him think about all the rule changes because of him. His dominance was such that in reality you could argue that he ended up being his own worst enemy. One thing's for sure we won't ever see anything like Nick Saban again.
i remember you saying this very thing when Bear Bryant left the game.

Saban is a "thing"?

UGA would probably have 2 natty's, one in 2012 and one in 2017....but if his health had remained in tact Mark Richt would probably still be coaching at UGA or would have for at least a couple of more seasons. Georgia or Alabama either one would have beat ND like a rented mule in 2012 and obviously Bama beat UGA in the title game in 2017.
LSU would probably be the biggest winner though...they had some incredibly good teams over Sabans tenure...

I don't know if any coach sticks around as long as Saban has. It is far more of a grind today than it was even 10 years ago. I would almost bet that a 15-20 year career as HC at any level is more common going forward. If Smart were to coach as long as Saban has and at the level he is doing it now there is no doubt that his lifelong record will make Saban's look like a nice little career...

Had never returned to college football. Seriously I want you to think about this really good. Who would be your coach? Would there even be any conference realignment? Would the NIL even exist?.
Saban, more than most things, is responsible for turning college into a pro game. It will never be admitted by bama fans, but Alabama perfected NIL before NIL existed. Kirby has built a monster roster using what he learned there. Now everyone can do it.
Tailgating is now something you pay to do. Ticket prices are now largely absurd. The lifespan of a college coach has gone from close to 10 years to maybe 2 or 3. Fun spring games, gone. Access to info on your team post-season, practically gone. Most big programs run like an intelligence agency.
It made the SEC undoubtedly the top football conference. It transformed TV contracts into a gold mine. But what Saban helped start is a big part of what college football is now. Personally, I hate it and suspect I'm going to hate it a lot more once it really gets established. Saban seems to share my opinion and I suspect he'll retire with the same frame of mind.
The charm of college football was that it wasn't pro. Now it is.
