Jimbo did excellent at FSU, but he may be damaged goods. They got destroyed by Boston College, had a losing record with Jimbo before he bolted (and left in a pretty unprofessional manner), and he seemed to go off the rails this year with challenging a fan in the stands when they lost. I think he'll do pretty good, but I'm not sure if it will be what aTm is looking for since he is an offensive guy. aTm already has a pretty good offense.

How did he leave in an unprofessional manner?

I’m disappointed TAMU did not consult you prior to making this hire

They hired a top 5 coach to coach at a place that has everything. That includes the want and the means.
The best hire they could have made. Top 10 program within 3 years.

The QB said he didn't call, text or anything concerning him leaving. He was probably closest to the QBs since he was the QB developer and offensive coordinator. That's pretty crappy.

Said QB was at home playing Madden while the rest of the team was at a team meeting where Jimbo broke down in tears telling them he was leaving, that's on the QB not Jimbo.

He spoke with the players, later. He couldn't do so before the news broke

I can't see Jimbo making all that much difference. For the past 4 years, his team's performance hasn't met the expectation of it's recruiting rankings while Miami and UF were down and he had the pick of the Florida talent crop . Now he's competing in the SEC West and A&M has struggled to keep it's highest ranked home grown prospects.

Jimbo isn't impressive.

He inherited Bowden's successes, and a rapist/all-star guy. Apart from that, he is less exciting than Gus Malzahn.

Jimbo is impressive - and at the very least A&M is simply going to OWN the state of Texas again after listening to him. We will see about the on-field stuff, but he is all you can ask for in a hire

And it's all booster money anyway, so could care less. Even the press release says no state funds at all.

Hence why we hired one of the best recruiters in the sport.

Last five years of Bobby Bowden before Fisher:

So are you saying Bowden signed 14-year old Jameis Winston in 2009? That's the only way Fisher could have possibly "inherited" him

TLDR

As for the future of A&M, do you drive an electric car?

If not, thanks for your support.

Judging by the OP's HR logic ... he would have concluded that Nick Saban to Bama was a huge mistake.
