I'm still under contract with DirecTV but if they don't have the SECN I'll switch to Uverse day 1. Sometimes a rival company like Uverse will buy out your contract to get you to switch. If Uverse doesn't offer that I'll just keep the cheapest contract I can with DirecTV until the contract is up while using Uverse.

I'm dumping cable altogether. I just bought a GIGANTIC Winegard 8200u rooftop antenna (don't care what my neighbors think - I think it is funny). Dumping pay-for-tv. I can get 30 channels here in Charlotte and from surrounding areas. Then, I can get a lot of programming off the net too. I will save 6 grand over 5 years...that's a lot of money for TV service. Just food for thought.

My savings were alot more. Mine... 14k. When I'm not missing anything, you bet it makes sense to go another route.

Why are you acting like a tool? You don't pick up the broadcasts of the SEC Network off an antenna nor any other channel outside of local channels. If you stream anything, technically its illegal. I don't really give a shite how you do it but stop acting like you have some brilliant solution that nobody else has figured out.

local stations will be picking up games on SECN, sorry if you don't live in LA for LSU games, or some other state for some other team

No, they won't...and can't. That's the point. I'm genuinely impressed at the ignorance of this network for the average fan. SEC Network televised games does not mean the same thing it has for years.

For those of us that don't have or want TV is the SECN going to be streamed online like WatchESPN?

If not there's always bootleg streams.

Well thanks Mr Network scholar who has been in the league 2 years. You don't know how it is going to work yet either, it hasn't all been decided yet. watch and see. When LSU plays a game that is not on ESPN,ESPN2,ESPNU or CBS the local Fox station might could buy it from SECN, are they going to turn down the money.

How about everybody just calm down till August, when there will be answers.

My point is that the SEC Network has made a point of making their games exclusive to their network. It has nothing to do with how long A&M has been in the league. If you think your game that is broadcast on the SEC Network is going to be picked up on your local station you are going to be sorely dissapointed.

To answer many of the questions in the thread, here are some of the questions/answers from the SEC Network's FAQ page

quote:

30. How do I get the digital part of the SEC Network?
Provided you are a customer who receives the network from your cable, satellite or telco provider, you can contact that provider and get a username and password which will allow you to access the content on computers, tablets, mobile phones and other consumer devices like Xbox.

33. Will I be able to watch the SEC Network on my mobile phone or similar device?
Yes. Provided you are a subscriber of an affiliated provider (a cable, satellite or telco partner), the SEC Network will be available on computers, tablets, mobile phones and other consumer devices like Xbox. The aim is to make this content available to fans anytime, anywhere, similar to how the WatchESPN application works today.

35. Will local affiliates (over-the-air nets) broadcast my team’s games if our region/cable provider does not carry the service (Ole Miss fans got this when they played on LHN)?
No. SEC Network programming and events will only be made available on the SEC Network channel or digital platforms.

36. Can I pay to subscribe to the network online, Pay-Per-View or via ESPN3 if I can’t get it on TV?
No. The games will be exclusive to the network and its digital extensions. However, once a subscriber has access to the network via an affiliated provider, that subscriber will have access to the content on computers, tablets, mobile phones and other consumer devices like Xbox. The aim is to make this content available to fans anytime, anywhere.

So your TV provider must offer it to get the streaming content, you cannot get streaming separately from, and local stations will NOT simulcast events on the SEC Network.

any game not covered on the afore mentioned channels, will probably be the one they will be giving tickets away to, so I will just go. Besides, DirecTV has 6 months to make a deal. No use getting all in a lather about it now.

BTW- I am never disappointed in stuff like this, I'll move along no matter what

They'll carry it, they are not dumb. They agreed with FS1 a week before the launch.

It's not just going to be the scrub games. As was stated earlier, A&M/USC and Aub/Ark will be on the SECN. There are going to be quite a few good games on the network because that is how they're going to force the cable and satellite carriers to carry the network. ESPN won't have leverage if all the games on the SECN are against schools like ULaLa or Sam Houston State. They have to put on some marquee matchups, the kind that have high-demand tickets.

The first game that will be played on the SECN will be A&M vs USCe. They won't be giving away ticket to a game like that. ESPN/SECN has also stated that they plan on showing more games like that on the SECN in the future (most likely to put pressure on the service providers to start carrying the channel).
