If XPs were eliminated and teams had to go for 2 point conversions after each Touchdown

I think it would make the game more fun. It would lessen overtimes and make upsets more likely. Wish they would consider it.

Just back it up to be a 40 yarder and let teams decide. Lots would go for 2 instead.

Not a bad idea

I'll do you one better. 50 yard and + field goals should be worth 4 points. Kickerslivesmatter#
ETA.. The second the NCAA adopts my plan, REC will earmark a wad of cash for kicker Challengers.

Why do you want women out of vanderbilt football? Misogynist!

Extremely unpopular opinion:
Eliminate the XP and 2 Point Conversion altogether. Make TDs worth 7 points and leave FGs at 3 points. Eliminate kickoffs (but not onside kicks) and start every drive at the 25.
Too many elements of the modern game exist to favor (1) offense (2) trailing teams (3) television time outs.

Sounds like you're trying to bring the "foot" back into football.
When the sport was in its infancy, the only way to score was to bat or kick the ball through the opposing team's goal. All goals counted one point each.
In 1883 a touchdown became two points, and the conversion was worth four points. A field goal was five points.

Sounds even better waspy.. Let's bring back the dropkick for 5 points.

You need to get in front of this and start design work on a modern square toe kicking cleat.

What's wrong with overtime? People act like they need to change shite up all the time.

Yep. Not a fan of points coming from kicking. Eliminate that weak crap

There’s a reason it’s unpopular because it isn’t very good.
The best part of an onside kick is the surprise potential.

It's not broke, there is nothing to fix.

Make the conversion worth 1 point and I'd say deal. 2 points is one too many and devalues the work it takes to score a TD.

I like the drama of the kicks, but I also like OPs proposal. Have thought about that myself many times.
I'd be in favor of moving it back to some questionable distance or allowing the 2 pt, or just eliminating them and going all 2 pts. But the drama of the PAT, I don't know if Id want to get rid of it. Option 1 seems better, just make it harder and make teams think more about which option to exercise.

The surprise onside kick is one of my favorite plays in football.
Certainly takes some balls to call, and given the right circumstances, it can literally make or break a game in one moment.
