It will never come back. The ADs of most school won’t recover the small businesses in college towns won’t recover. The gutless cowards making these sections are going to do stay more damage to people by canceling the season.

Wow!

Sure are a lot of people & Businesses dependent on a small number of people, JUST MAYBE that small number of people responsible for everything , just maybe they deserve a little more than a Full Scholly, maybe add in enhanced stipends plus NIL opportunities

I still think we'll have it, with virtually empty stadiums and a reduced number of games. But I could be wrong.

Please stop. People like me need the masses to keep believing that a full scholarship is enough.

That's dumb and you're stupid, but football is a dying dinosaur of a sport anyway.

I'd be all for putting it out of it's misery to faster usher in the superior sport of basketball, which was already going to overtake football in the US in 10-20 years anyway, and is already globally #2 behind soccer.

Basketball is the future

Basketball is the future

Basketball will never overtake FB in America

I love some FB

Americans love some FB

That whole Gladiator in the Arena - savage combatant element to FB makes it the greatest spectator sport in America, to hell with CTE

Are you one of those Euro-peons?

Participation in football at the youth level is dwindling every year. The most elite athletes want to play basketball.

20 years from now football will be a joke compared to what we've known the last couple decades

There's only so many folks on the Planet that are 6ft 6inches or taller, that height gives you a great shot at being able to make it to the Pro Level

FB is realistic for a larger cross section of Society than Basketball, and Baseball is realistic for a larger cross section of people than both

How many truly elite can't miss dominant Basketball players are under 6-6 where you knew they were gonna have a NBA Career without question?

All that youth participation in Basketball will fade when they hit age 15 and top out at 6-3 or 6-4 and reality hits that FB might be their best chance at extending their Athl careers beyond HS

Hate to let you in on this little secret, but FB Rosters in College are full of Hoopsters that "stopped growing"

I'm sure you would feel the same if Auburn was still good in football.

I think he means the behemoth that CFB was wont return. The excess bowls games, etc. On the flip side, this could finally consolidate the powers into a 32ish mega conference

It will come back but it will be changed forever. Most, if not all, major college sports are major financial losers without ticket revenue and TV revenue. Exactly where is this money going to from if there is no football for a year?

Most of the costs for football and basketball aren't going away just because they don't play. So survival depends on support of BOR and general academia at colleges and universities where the overwhelming majority of professors and many of those in power absolutely hate the fact that the highest paid employee on campus is the head coach and many of the assistants make more than the highest paid teachers and professors. Most of them despise male dominated college sports to begin with.

Not sure many of you really understand or can grasp what is about to happen. Is football coming back?... sure. Salaries and budgets are at their peak at this time and will never hit this level again. There will be a downward trend from here on out. College football in particular is about to undergo some serious headwinds and it ain't going to be pretty.

Auburn is good in football, if this was going to be a normal season we'd be winning the West this year

Neither that nor my love of football changes the facts that basketball is superior and football will die off about the same time the boomers finally do

At all P5 colleges FB & MBB turn a healthy profit and are completely self sufficient

At less than 10 P5 colleges Baseball turns a very small profit, the rest lose small amounts of money, basically they are slightly under break-even

At all the G5 colleges FB & MBB turn "enough of a profit" to be consistently in the Black, G5 colleges rarely lose money on FB & MBB

None of the G5 Baseball Programs turn a profits, although the losses are insignificant

After that list above EVERYTHING ELSE in College Sports lose money

At the P5 & G5 Level FB, MBB, & for the most part Baseball is not dependent on any BOR for survival, that just is not true

BTW, the P5 + G5 are roughly the Top 130 Colleges that play big time Sports

TV Money is the main thing, next comes FB ticket Revenue, but almost all Athl Depts are insulated from the overall University, they operate as a separate Business Entity on that Campus, that's why the Commish called a meeting with the ADs and not the University Presidents

Football will be played in the spring. For sure. With full schedules

They better play ducking basketball though. Two straight seasons without March madness will kill that sports. Plus that’s just not fair to those kids

So, LSU is the last real undefeated, undisputed Champion of college football, ever?

I can live with that.

No. Less than 50% of the 128 basketball programs at schools with P5 or G5 football teams are profitable.

quote:

TV Money is the main thing, next comes FB ticket Revenue,

On average, TV money accounts for 29% of revenues, tickets are 27%, and contributions are 26%.

This is extremely significant. Contributions are nothing more than charity from friends of the program, and without them, there are only about 30 football programs in the country that show a profit.

True, but very few people realize the thin line that CFB walks with donations. A serious economic downturn, or something that alienates boosters is all that separates most programs from nonexistence.
