The landscape of college athletics would forever be changed.

I think most of the P5 schools could weather it, and a few others with resources and support- Boise, UCF, BYU, maybe a couple others. Most of the rest would be in big trouble, and below the D1 level they'd be crushed.

You'd have to strongly consider overturning Title 9, because entire athletic departments would be in danger, and the concept of mandatory non-profitable programs would be a disaster. I mean, it's fine to carry money-losers when you can afford it, but not when you're drowning.

And regarding TV money... we don't know the fallout on that either. People were already cutting the cord and so forth, now you're talking about totally unplugging society as a whole from a sport for a year. If that happens, who knows what the new viewing habits will be? One of the reasons I held on to cable was to hang onto ESPN etc for sports... I'm now looking at no sports, and may drop cable and just stream (movies and series). If that happens for a year, can ESPN continue to pay top dollar when it comes back, or are they in trouble too?

We are being punished for micturating on certain folks aspirations in 2016. After certain folks get their way here in about three and a half months, the punishment will ease off for our ruining that 2016 party. I’m confident about my assessment. OP you are still in the Depression Phase. I guess anger phase is gone you’ll be bargaining in a couple days then acceptance will relieve you. Grab a beer, joint, xanex, or if you’re not a junkie go have coitus with a woman. It’s ok buddy.
