The league office needs to make an conscious effort to avoid the entire league playing a tomato can game the exact same week.

Every week of the year should have at least 1 marquee non-conference or conference match up.

Weeks like this the only time anyone is talking about the SEC is about how horrible the slate of games is.

Even a single decent game would draw a lot of that chatter.

Ole Miss vs Vandy doesn't count?

They tried to give the Ole Miss-Vandy game the spotlight it deserves but Vandy laid a giant egg last weekend.

We should eliminate permanent opp and go to 9 gane sec schedule. Let the teams that want to stay perm stay.

Are the gumps the only team who do not already schedule an actual OOC game against a P5 team? Seems like every week they are grinding against CUSA or the Sun Belt.

If by gumps you mean TAMU, then yes.

Bama played WVU just this past Saturday. WVU, as you may or may not know, is in the Big 12.

You mean Texas A&M, who are so afraid of the SEC schedule that they schedule 4 worthless OOC teams a year.

Pretty obvious what they are doing. Just hoping to get to 8 wins.

Week two will always be susceptible to the coaches wanting a tune-up game. Just enjoy that most of us are still undefeated and the season will be in full gear soon.

This very true, if it was up to me I'd say to do away with them besides the money factors for small schools and giving your freshman some pt, I'm very against it, and then the worst part is most not all are not on ESPN so if you even want to watch you have to order it or have secn

Hoping Ole Miss and Vandy provide the SEC a marquee game is not a smart bet.

What planet do you live on?

Since college football expanded to 12 regular season games Alabama has played a power 5 conference team in the regular season every single year.

2006 - Duke (they suck, but still qualify) (win)
2007 - Florida State (loss)
2008 - Clemson (win)
2009 - Virginia Tech (win)
2010 - Penn State (win)
2011 - Penn State (win)
2012 - Michigan (win)
2013 - Virginia Tech (win)
2014 - West Virginia (win)

2015 - Wisconsin
2016 - USC

Alabama does just as well as LSU if not better at scheduling marquee non conference games on a fairly consistent basis.

That would address the cupcake games in the OP how?

It's insane that we stuck to an 8 game conference schedule. My jimmies are still rustled about that.

it would do nothing.

if you want a stacked schedule

go 9 SEC games

no FCS schools OOC games allowed

all OOC opponents must have been to a bowl game the year before

1 OOC opponent must have been ranked at the end of the regular season or the bowl Season of the previous season
