I think oklahoma state and NC state would be the best 2 teams to add new markets which is what the sec wants to spread its name and make more money plus both teams wouldnt be little brother anymore in their state just like A&M was but also heard Virginia would be a possibility and was a leading candidate when Missouri was chosen but something to do with the legislature in Virginia not allowing V tech and Virginia to split to different conferences.

Why does the SEC HAVE to expand beyond 14? The conference has found a happy medium at 14 teams with a nice, equitable scheduling format.

The only real viable options are VT an/or UVA (since state law currently says they have to be in same conference)

this is not true. there is no state law. in fact, the VA legislature wasn't the reason VT got into the ACC. it was just the Governor. UVA's President wanted VT, but there were some UVA board of visitors that were reluctant. the Governor simply told them to support VT or he would replace them.

I have a good friend that was working for the Governor at the time. & it was totally polically, because the Governor (Mark Warner) was trying to win support in Republican SW Va to run for US Senate.

Exactly! No one is pushing beyond 14 for football! Lets stay where we are. Besides, the only viable targets are VT and NCSU, and they seem a bit out of reach.

We just need to go to a 9 game schedule and call it a day.

Ok State adds no good markets, I think that the entire STATE of Oklahoma has as many TV sets as the City of Houston.

Plus Ok State and OU aren't ever splitting.

Duke, which cannot compete often in football in the ACC would be a total loss in the SEC. Why would they even think about it?

They are a national power in BB regardless of conference affiliation so why drag your FB team into a conference beyond their reach?

Hollins & Sweet Briar.... brings in the Virginia market. improves the Equestrian dominance and would make for nice road trips.

This, but as a resident of the state, I find it very hard to believe that the state legislature would allow VT to leave UVA high and dry in a crumbling ACC. If UVA had a spot in the B1G, I think VT would be free to go to the SEC. I also don't think UVA wants any part of the SEC, both competitively and academically.

Also, I think UVA is a much more appealing choice than VT or NC State. It's closer to DC, northern Virginia, Richmond, and Hampton Roads. Charlottesville is a great college town, one of the best out there. Would add major academic credibility. Historically about as good at football (Beamer won't be there forever) and much better at all other sports.

Again, not sure if they'd be interested.

I agree, this is what will happen.

Obviously in Va, Virginia would be the better choice, if they would come. If not VT is an excellent fall back, if they would come as well.

In NC, its the same with UNC being the top prize and NC State being the fall back option.

My question is, what if UNC and NC State both decline? Do you reach down and get ECU, just to get the tv markets?

And what if both Virginia schools decline as well? Obviously no other Virginia schools would be considered

I would take FSU, Clemson, GT and either Miami and VT and throw out TAMU and Missouri and I have nothing against them. But to be in the Southeastern Conference you should be remotely in the southeast. A&m and Missouri are Midwestern

Wait a minute, wasn't the state of Texas a member of the Confederacy like most, if not all of the SEC members?

You know, the Old SOUTH? (Not Old Midwest).

I can understand why you Tiggers wouldn't want to be playing A&M each year from here on out though.

ECU will not be invited. Makes the non-Vandy rest of us look like Harvard.

I have no qualms about TAMU as a team. They are a great team getting better and as a team, are a great addition to the conference. But Texas isn't in the southeast. It is in the middle of the country where the Big 12 is centered. Geographically, A&M and Missouri were terrible picks in my opinion
