The SEC would be better off just sending the state of Oklahoma a welfare check for 10 million a year rather than adding 2 teams from it.
OU by themselves is interesting, not sure how a 15 team schedule would work.

this could be totally different, but for a few years, Big East basketball had 16 or 18 teams, and some schools didn't play each other. I am sure the scheduling part could be figured out.

The conference is already too big IMO. If we add any more schools then it's inevitable some big name SEC schools look elsewhere.
And we'll wish you well in the American Athletic conference.

Sooners in the West would be great. But State would have to come as well. Put Bama/Auburn in the East and lets go!

Don't need OU in the conference. LSU fans can use one of their non-conference games every year to play them if they so infatuated with OU.
A late season trip to Norman or "Stoolwater" will change their minds.

I just don't see the XII really staying together for long. There is pressure for them to add teams, and anyone they add is a "leftover." They would simply be better off to stay at ten teams.
At some point the league will disband, when tu decides to blow it up. I would expect Tech and tu to go west at that point that's when OU and OSU would be on the move. KU would likely go to the B1G and I could see the ACC adding WVU at that time.
For now, OU and OSU will stay where they are. But in ten years, it may make make sense for the SEC to add them.

If OU came (alone), it seems logical that they would be in the Western Division (assuming we didn't go to 4 pods) and someone would need to be added to the East.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would be added to the West, Bama and Auburn would move to the East. That would make the traditional rival games TSIO and Au/UGA remain annual because they would become divisional match-ups.
Divisions:
East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
West
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St.
Ole Miss
Texas a&M
ETA...this would also involve moving Missouri to the West...where they fit better geographically... Thanks to Herman for pointing out that Missouri does actually exist, and Auburn can't be in both divisions.

Very close...When the Big 12 grant of rights ends, the LHN will be flushed, Texas & Kansas go to the B1G, and I'd wager the SEC takes OU & Okie State.

Agreed except GOR will likely be extended. That will be the price smaller threatened schools like Baylor, Tech and TCU extract for a new deal. They do NOT want to see GOR end as they could lose a chair in Power 5 if the Big 12 disintegrates. Because the GOR will be lengthened and more teams added, I don't see Oklahoma going anywhere for a very long time. And if they do, they will go wherever Texas goes, which means B1G.

Somebody is drunk again. Nobody is talking about LSU on this thread. "Stoolwater" is Stillwater...home of Oklahoma State.

This. Why]can't Oklahoma move without Oklahoma State? I feel like this is just something people say in hopes that it sticks.
Back a few years ago when when the rumors were swirling about Texas A&M joining the SEC, Oklahoma was brought up. Their state government was very much opposed to Oklahoma leaving Oklahoma State in the dust, so they vowed to stop that from happening. It was going to be a 2 for 1 deal. Who knows if this is still the case.

Great. Exactly the reason I don't want western teams for expansion. Those divisions look reasonable, but LSU would be in a division that looks more like a hybrid of Big12/SWC than the SEC.

Doesn't simple math show us that dividing a pie 16 ways instead of 14 means each piece is smaller? No teams are getting added unless the TV contract is renegotiated to a level where the existing 14 members actually make more money if two more are added. I don't see that happening.
ESPN has lost a few million subscribers over the past couple of years and this is expected to continue and possibly even accelerate. ESPN is the driver of these huge athletic department budgets at Power 5 schools but that gravy train has hit a speed bump and those TV rights payments may have peaked.
ESPN gets about $5.00 per month from every cable subscriber in the country whether they watch sports or not, and then ESPN also makes money the traditional way from ad revenue. More and more people are cable "cord cutters" as more and more options to purchase alacarte and streaming are available. ESPN will have to rely more and more on ad revenue to pay these TV rights, but ad revenue isn't guaranteed like those monthly cable bills and it ain't gonna be enough to keep increasing TV rights contracts.

I have a hard time picturing the ACC adding WVU. Why? i dont know..they just never seemed interested. Always heard Tobacco Road was against it. Im not sure if it would be better for us to stay at 10 or not. Not really crazy about any of the potential newcomers.
