I’m more curious about what this ruling will mean to future players. If a jr goes in the third round of the NFL draft and then gets cut. Does he get the opportunity to go back to college?
Why wouldn’t every junior now just declare for the draft and see what happens? They can always come back to college.

Why would they not get 5 years? Does the NCAA need to make a rule now to stop underclassmen from coming back to college if they get cut in the NFL?

Or play 3 years in the NBA and come back to bama?

I don’t think that is a good example. Wasn’t he declared ineligible after a few games?

Well his situation is about a thousand times worse than this 5 for 5. Couple that with the fact that he was allowed to play games, and meanwhile LSU is getting sued and threatened with expulsion and they haven’t even signed either of these dudes yet and you can start to see the hypocrisy

I don’t see this as a 5 for 5 issue as much as a signed a professional contract issue. Not just talking about LSU. All teams taking players that signed a contract. Most on this board talk about how NCAA football is changing for the worse. Now this will open up more issues down the road.

Mark it down. This situation is setting up perfectly for LSU to get themselves booted from the conference.

Yes, and the bama basketball player voluntarily left school early, signed a professional contract, played in a professional league for 3 years, and then returned to school and bama received no penalties.
Like I said, about a thousand times worse than this situation

You keep overlooking the fact he was ruled ineligible. Meaning he couldn’t play because he had signed a contract with the NBA G league.

After he played in games and took the case all the way to the Alabama Supreme Court.
The guys everyone is melting over in this case haven’t even been added to a roster yet, so let’s allow the courts to go through there process in this instance too

No. This legal dispute is tied to only those players from 2023. That class of players were denied their 5th year of being eligible because the NCAA's 5 to play 5 policy came out after they had "timely" applied for the draft. i.e. too late .

Yes he went to court to get the right to play. Then the court ruled against and he was off the team. So you could say a precedent was set.

Ok, so his objectively worse situation was denied in court. How about we allow this situation to play out in court before the rest of the conference melts?

They do this with a draft grade. Most times it is works.

I’m not melting. I’m just talking football and sports. I know that doesn’t happen on this site anymore. But this is what it is like. My thoughts. Your thoughts. A back and forth exchange of ideas.
