I think the standards are based off the other sports. A high school baseball player can sign with a professional baseball minor league club and then go play college baseball if it doesn’t work out. That was the basis for the Alabama basketball players case. I looked over the case when you mentioned him. But the NFL has no minor league.

D3. That was what they tried to use. And was overturned and he was ruled ineligible after 4 or 5 games I think. But was not going to a D3 school. But they tried. I get the position any of the schools signing players that signed a pro contract are using. The 5 for 5 rule. But want to overlook the signed a pro contract. I’m looking at what doing so will change going forward. If these 40 plus or however many signed a pro contract become eligible that can open a pathway for underclassman with eligibility left to sue if they don’t make a pro roster.

No NCAA team has ever been expelled from their conference. And you think that the SEC is actually going to expel a founding member over an issue that courts ruled in favor of LSU and the players?

Not to mention, ESPN isn’t going to be happy that the massive media rights deal they gave the SEC was based upon 16 schools which included LSU. You think ESPN will just write off losing the media rights for one of the biggest TV ratings draws in the country? They’re going to want that deal renegotiated to factor in the loss of value for LSU’s rights. All this expulsion chatter is just emotional ranting. It has zero chance of actually happening

No he cannot.

A baseball player that gets picked in MLB draft out of high school only keeps their NCAA eligibility if they don’t sign with the team that drafted them. If they sign with the MLB club, they forfeit college baseball eligibility, even if they never make it out of the minors.

They could leave minor league baseball and go play college football, basketball, or other sports besides baseball. Think Matt Mauck, Chris Weinke, Russell Wilson…all played QB in college after they had been in minor league baseball

1. SEC bylaws don’t allow for expulsion of a member.

2. Sanky and the SEC are not allowed to punish the players ot the schools. Even if the SEC wins in federal court (which is unlikely) the law does not allow the SEC to retroactively punish the players or the schools for following a court order during the time that court order is on effect. That is why Alabama didn’t suffer any repercussions from playing that basketball player last season and why Ole Miss doesn’t have to worry about repercussions if Trinidad Chambliss loses his case against the NCAA if it goes to trial after the season.

I was looking at the case of the basketball player at Alabama. Stated you could return in Division 3. But was ruled ineligible later. But I agree that if you sign a pro contract you should be ineligible. I just think it’s going to be brought up down the road with underclassmen that don’t make a NFL roster.
