the upstate of SC and Birmingham are about the same population. Greenville is same distance from Clemson as B'ham is from T-town. Greenville has much better and safer downtown and has a lot of stuff B'ham doesn't like Dave and Busters and REI.

but it isn't like anybody goes to Bama because there are x number of people in B'ham. I would venture to say many Bama students rarely or never go to B'ham while attending school at Bama.

the traffic on that main drag in B'ham is awful, I think that is the worse urban sprawl road in the country. seem like 80 percent of the metro live off that road somewhere.

There's 240K in the Tuscaloosa Metro. Birmingham is 40 minutes away with a metro if 1.5 million.

....and how many recruits do you get from B'ham and Tuscaloosa?

Didn't they manipulate the numbers, so that they did not effect them until after Kiffin was fired ?

Completely different argument, but usually 3-4 depending on the cycle. That's why my initial response about the talent available in a "500 mile radius" around Tuscaloosa.

Yes. They worked their signing numbers but their total scholarship numbers were limited as well. And it got worse when the appeal process was exhausted.

This would be so great, then after he failed at that he could take over the Patriots.

Lane Kiffin's ability to fail upward is so, so amazing.

Which wasn't suppose to hit them hard until last year (after Kiffin was gone}.

It depends on how soon Alabama would be looking for a new HC. If Alabama were to be looking for a new head coach after this season I would go with Burt Bielema. I think Alabama would buy his contract out and he'd be the perfect fit from a football perspective.

I think Kiffin is better suited for the NFL and that is where he will finish his career.

He'd scare me a lot less than if Bama went out and got Gary Patterson or Chip Kelly

Lane will have to show me some serious maturity before I think he's ready for the pressure cooker that would be the Alabama head coach that follows Saban.

I'd rather have someone like Gary Patterson. Although our track record in hiring TCU coaches kind of sucks.
