re: If Johnny Manziel doesn't win another Heisman, is it out of spite?

They might want to honor somebody else. He might still get the Walter Camp and/or Maxwell Award.

JFFs stats are against bama, arky (in which aTm went to the ground game heavily in the second half) and then half a game against rice and another half against SHSU

Winning in Baton Rouge is easily just as big a deal as beating Bama. Johnny and A&M can make up for the Bama loss by winning out the rest of the way.

That in itself should take Manziel out of Heisman.

I was more impressed with Mike Evans than JM in the Bama-A&M game.

Manziel doesn't play defense.

So you're equating Alabama and Eastern Washington now?

Yes; but I fully expect that very thing (spite vote) to occur.
He already has a trophy; another one would just be icing.
Most people know who the best player is.
Nothing more to prove.

The guy is still obviously the best player in college football.

1489 passing yards
14 passing touchdowns
314 rushing yards
3 rushing touchdowns

He is well on his way to another ridiculous year.

I think it comes down to how he plays in the games seen on national television and whether a plausible alternative comes along.

Numbers alone don't do it - the SEC defenses this year are way off the mark compared to normal and a guy like Kliff Kingsbury had almost no shot when he threw for 45 TDs and 5K yards. People just chalked it up to shitty defense

I agree and even though they lost, he played well enough to beat Alabama. He still has LSU to TRY to hang his hat on and an outside shot at the SECCG.

Maybe Oklahoma 60, Texas Tech 15 had something to do with it...plus the 5 losses that year.

First 2 sentences of Heisman trophy's mission statement. I'd say no....

Too early to say anything.

O.J. Simpson completely invalidates that argument, as does Reggie Bush

What about JFF's play this year makes you think he doesn't qualify under the second sentence?
