Depends which GM.

Some prefer potential over actual production.

Cams body broke down because he played for Carolina . We will see this year if he can recover.

Yeah but if you can’t throw the ball accurately it really doesn’t matter.

I would go: Burrow, Newton, Lawrence.

It mattered when he won the MVP and took his team to the SB. Something I doubt either Burrow or Lawrence will equal.

Every GM is trying to find the next Pat Mahomes.

Cam would easily go first.

Only one on the list is capable of taking a franchise to the next level with poor support around them.

I agree. Mahomes is a hell of a talent, best quarterback drafted since Aaron Rodgers.

Even Mahoney didn’t take a team that earned the first pick in the draft to a SB in 5 years. How many QBs have that on their resume?

Cam is #1. It’s impossible to let that type of talent and size go by. Not saying he’d have the longest career of them, but he’s an immediate game changer.

I don't care who had the better career. Who was the best player when they finished college? That was Joe Burrow with Cam right behind him. Lawrence never did and never could carry his team. Those two did.

Who was the last #1 overall QB to win a Super Bowl for the team that drafted them? E. Manning?

Edit: Is it abnormal for it to be that long? Even Drew Bledsoe was on the Patriots team that won in 2001 and played a few snaps.

Wasn’t Eli drafted by SD?

Fair enough. So P. Manning?

My overall point being that ~10 or so highly touted QBs have been drafted #1 this century yet none of them have yet accomplished the feat that the teams ultimately drafted them for.

How long did it take each overall #1 QB drafted to get his team to the playoffs? That is the true test.
