Was the tree a historical tree i.e. "d boone cilled a bar" carved in it or the tree under which they signed a treaty? Did they hang a spy on it or it marked a boundary in a deed?
If no, then get a good chainsaw. How big is this tree? Is it oak, hickory or other good firewood? Caution if osage orange it will burn too hot for your wood stove unless you mix it with other wood.

I DGAS about the tree. But that fact that you will be spending big bucks on a pool makes me question your intelligence. That is an even bigger waste of money for a headache than a boat.

Going with a salt water pool (which I know isnt truly a salt water pool). They are supposed to be cheaper maintenance.

If it’s a shite tree then no worries. We cut one once and it was an important tree, we had to plant others and pay a fine
