The only real answer is Texas. They have the highest revenue in the nation and the best talent of any state in the U.S. No other program can match those two MAJOR factors.

Problem for FSU is FIU, FAU, UCF, USF. They take depth from FSU as they get guys who used to walk on etc as schollies.

Diff between osu and lsu is ohio has 11the million people while la has 4. Imo ur going to need better coaches and less entitled its all about me players. Cus yall can out recruit lsu every year, and you do. It wont matter until there is a new attitude amongst the players and program.

imo McCoy getting injured is the ONLY reason bama won.

You must not have actually watched the game. The Texas receivers dropped a ton of balls. The outcome would have been the same either way

With Miami and Florida down, I could easily see Fla. State as a power in the making for the next few years.

except texas has mack brown as coach.

USC could do it next year
OSU will have a chance around year 3 of Meyer and for several years to come
FSU has a chance too since UF is in the dumps and we dont know what the hell is going to happen to miami

Sounds crazy at the moment but FSU and Miami ( two teams I really don't like) have to be considered in the discussion. Plenty of talent around for both.

+1. Think Urban learned the gimmick offense can't beat the SEC powerhouses and he'll recruit better, now that his health concerns have been taken care of. Thank the Lord, he got healthy quick.

USC is going to be a hand full.

I think Kiffin is a douche, but he is doing a pretty good job out there.

USCw and Tejas have the best real shot at it.
Anyone else would be a fluke.

USC and FSU.
USC looked like an NFL team under Carrol at times. Florida State can get the same talent that UF can.
Texas could with a different HC.

Ohio State maybe if they go south to get their DL recruits.

USC; they recruit with the best of them and they've already proven they can dominate some pretty decent SEC teams.

USC, Texas, Florida State, or Miami. WTF is Michigan doing up there? The state of Michigan has no in-state talent. Why do you think Saban had so much trouble winning at Michigan State? Do you think he suddenly magically turned into an elite coach at LSU?

don't know how Texas is not top 5 every year with the setup they have. It's the best in the nation imo

i have felt this way for awhile and have kept my eye on their recruiting vs their results. they recruit top 5 pretty much every year. if you have watched them in the last 2 years you have to question their players recruiting rankings. they were overranked. it also appears they do not seem to have player leadership and or team chemistry. but, they have made TWO NC apperarances in the last SEVEN. so their good years are very good and they have a lot of mediocre years. while they are perfectly capable of producing a team to unseat and SEC team in a NC game, they are not going to be consistently good until they improve their player evaluation skills or until they change their style of recruiting. they seem to send recruits an "invitation" and sign the first 25 that accept. in short, i think mac brown is lazy at this stage of his career.

USC-we've seen it before an dit could happen again. Some people don't realize how well Pete and that staff recruited nationally. Kiffin and big Ed can still do that but they better do it next year because after that it's going to be 4-5 years before they'll be that good again.

Texas-The premier university in the country from a major sports perspective. Mack's time has passed but what is being overlooked is that he's hired SEC assistants now and those guys know how to build and recruit a team. If Mack gets out of the way, they could do it.

OSU-There's enough talent in Ohio and the Northeast for Urban to get and again he knows how to build a SEC type program. He will only be as good as his assistants though so he better hire well. Urban may be the guy that changes the "culture" around OSU football. It seems that Tressell was content to own the Big Ten.

FSU-We've seen them be dominate before and it's entirely possible again. They will always recruit well even if UF is up. Their problem is that they need another head coach. Fisher is not the guy that's going to bring them back. He just doesn't have it. The talent he is assembling could lead the next guy to be able to beat the SEC.

Miami- Way too much talent in their backyard. Their biggest problem is the guys from the "old school" U still trying to hang around and do things that way. It's not possible at Miami anymore. Too many eyes from the NCAA looking at them. Another problem is Donna Shalala. She is pushing the higher academic standards at Miami and that hurts with the talent pool around the school. It may be wrong to say or talk about but most of the kids in the Miami and surrounding counties area aren't exactly the brightest kids in the lot. Higher academic standards don't allow them to get those kids in. Those great Miami teams weren't stocked with guys that were gonna win academic awards but they could play football. It's amazing how many kids still love "the U".

i'm just not on the osu/urban meyer bandwagon. i dont think he will be as successful as the sweater vest.

Why would Michigan have a better shot than Ohio State? Just wondering why there were on the list instead?

Maybe because Ohio State has lost everytime they have faced an SEC team in a bowl game.
