They would have to be put in witness protection.

Am I right or am I right?

Dennis Franchione did similar, although they had a postseason ban IIRC.

10 years, 15 million, how quaint.

Hell, Spurrier still gets skewered for leaving a 3 win team with no prospects at all. Granted, it was mid-season.

Easily avoidable if we would all hire line coaches to be head coach.

Left them just a few days before finding out whether they make the playoffs when they have a good shot to make the playoffs.

I agree, but ND's lack of being in a conference and having completed their regular season pushes the time table up a week. I cant imagine this hire being made if 1. ND was about to play in a conference championsip game with the CFP on the line, or 2. They were a lock for the CFP.

If ND does indeed make the CFP, this story will explode and rightfully so.

CFP chair Gary Barta on Notre Dame: "The committee is aware of all the coaching changes while we were going through the rankings, this week it didn't apply...Once the championship games wrap up, our protocol does include the ability to consider a player/coach not being available"

So not only did he abandon them, but he potentially hurt ND’s chances to make the playoffs.

People absolutely crucified Bobby Petrino for leaving the Atlanta Falcons in the middle of a losing season. This is exponentially worse but is getting a fraction of the blowback.

This is one of the by-products of an early signing period that's right after after the regular season ends.

For a 6-6 trainwreck that just finished last in their division.

Interesting.

How can you blame him? When a strong arse offer comes your way, you have to accept it.
