Then he told he stood in front of his players to say he loved them.

He should have just said what really happened, I’m bolting for a ton of cash and don’t give a frick about anyone.

When a strong arse offer comes your way, you have to accept it.

If Will Wade was involved, I don’t see how Kelly could have resisted.

So not only did he abandon them, but he potentially hurt ND’s chances to make the playoffs

Strong wording, but ok. And Riley abandoned OU, and Napier abandoned ULL, and every coach who ever left a team before the season was over, etc etc.

As for hurting their playoff chances, that's bullshite. If anything, by saying what he did, Gary Barta just made them the underdog team without a coach all of a sudden. With or without Kelly the only way ND gets in is if two teams lose. And if, IF, two teams above them lose this weekend, do you honestly believe the CFP would let a two loss team pass them? With all of the media attention on how unfair that would be?

Now, if you said he hurt any chance they had at WINNING the CFP, I would agree with you.

Guys with 1-11 records don’t get invited to coach SEC BIG SIX teams.

Especially ones with the nomenclature of having the best team of all time and three titles under three different coaches in your lifetimes.

You might think it’s BS that could happen but per the CFP protocls the committee is allowed to discount ND for the fact that they no longer have their head coach.

+ Kelly is basically sending the message to the committee to not pick ND because not even he believes in them.

And they are allowed to value add (The opposite of discount?) for the fact that they no longer have their head coach as well. Sports has become entertainment and feel good shite. You believe that merit and common sense would win out over "bless their coach-less little hearts"? I hope you are right, but I think its a wash at best.

Eh, time heals all wounds. Vols would gladly take Lane Kiffin back.

People absolutely crucified Bobby Petrino for leaving the Atlanta Falcons in the middle of a losing season. This is exponentially worse but is getting a fraction of the blowback.

Terry Bowden left AU in the middle of a losing season leaving Brother Oliver as head coach.

Tubberville left Ole Miss for Auburn.

That was in a line box. Totally different.

ND will have a new HC before the Committee selects. But this does give them an excuse for putting Bama at #4 even if they lose the SECCG and end up with 2 losses.
