I think so as well. If you go to the UNC message boards, they are really talking up this years game against USCe. They are claiming to be THE Carolina school, and talking about how they are going to prove it this year (they will probably get killed though). But I could definitely see a rivalry develop there.

I could also see LSU/aTm, Arky/Mizzou, and even aTm/VT develop also. And I also think that the SEC will do everything they can to grow them.

Start caring and quit spamming the board. Is this place some kind of free association outlet?

I'm really looking forward to continuing the great Alabama-South Carolina rivalry.

Aside from the option of 2-3 permanent opponents and then using lottery to determine the rest of the schedule, this is my favorite solution so far.

Well "historically" Georgia Tech has more secc and mnc than Arkansas. "Historically" Florida was nothing in the SEC till Spurrier arrived. It was also a far easier task to win a secc yrs ago. 6 conference games and you could also tie for the title.

Doesn't matter what happened 70 yrs ago with Gen Neyland...yea, UT had a good run with Fulmer but look what they did in the 70's and 80's (pretty good maybe averaged 7 to 8 wins) but nothing dominant.

Sorry, just don't see UT leapfrogging LSU,UF,UGA or even AU (when they get their shite together)as a program in the near future.

That looks like the most horrible, joyless division possible. I would rather Tennessee play in the Big Ten.

If they wanted to play UT in the off years they can schedule them for a non-conference game and keep it the TSIO if they choose.

Or we can play it every year in conference play like we always have, and everyone else can deal with it.

I don't see them leapfrogging LSU, UF, or UGA (or Bama for that matter) in the near future, although I could see them leapfrogging everyone else (including auburn) if they were to ever get their crap together. But my point was that if they can get it together, then along with VT (if they can maintain where they have been at recently) could be enough to anchor a northern pod. It would still probably the worst out of the lot, but it would still be adequate enough.

It's not "inevitable" man and i don't want nor do i see Us expanding further. But if We do i'd like to see Bama and Auburn in separate divisions and not play each other every season. Rotate out like other conference games. The petty hatred has gotten outta hand.

Is this a fair representation of general opinion (for Vol fans)?

I don't want to expand again....didn't want to the first time. I hope it isn't inevitable.

I'd prefer a 10 team setup where everyone plays each other. Who'd get the boot though?

AL
AU
UF
UG
LSU
OM
MSU
USC
UT

UNC maybe?

that doesn't seem to be the issue. Bama is beating them too but they still want to play Bama.

I think for the traditional Vols the Florida rivalry was a recent thing (Spurrier vs Fulmer in the 90s) more than a tradition.

Bama wasn't beating them during their "glory days" of the 90's though.

Tennessee's glory days were really not the 90s (even though that was an outstanding decade for them). And Bama dominated that series in the first half of the decade until Tenn picked up steam and Bama fell off
