I’ve been to OKC and that’s a cool city. Lawton sucked. Been to Missouri and Joplin sucked really bad. The best part of the St Louis area are on the Illinois side, Edwardsville, granite. Missouri kills people with the taxes more than Illinois. Imagine that

Every team in the SEC not named Kentucky would be 5-0 with that schedule.

Mizzou ain't bad but if we're close to 100% focused like we were against Georgia, We beat Mizzou something like 34-14. But I think it'll be fairly closer.

care to provide some proof of that tax claim?
last I knew MO was 9th or 10th best in tax burden, and Illinois was 10th worst. that's a hell of a flip.

As we slide into "Nebraska irrelevancy " and this new era for you begins, I just love giving the credit thats due.

I think you represent a lot of folks on here. You don't want to see Mizzou beat Bama, because that would signal the end of the old SEC days. Deep down y'all are Big 6 brothers, or whatever that stupid shite is called.

By this logic were people on here disappointed when Bama lost to A&M in 2012 or 2021? Or TX in 2023? Or OU last year?

No. Everyone on here not a Bama fan was celebrating. I guarantee you OP and every other Auburn and LSU fan in particular would be extremely pleased if Bama lost on Saturday

That’s just a substitution for higher vehicle registration fees. Illinois home tax is 2.5x. If your car is worth 2.5x your home, you have bigger problems than taxes.

You should be proud of OU’s LONG tradition of cheating & paying players.

And I think old school SEC types, like many baws around here, want to get in a Delorian and go back to the good ol days.

Bama is beatable. They have a good QB but they have issues on D and they are not consistent.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Granite City is a shithole and the IL side of STL is a literal dump. It's were all the strip clubs are.

As for taxes, you are even more wrong. IL has double the property taxes and way higher income tax.

The best parts of STL are central / west county: Ladue/Clayton,Town and Country, Frotenac, Des Peres (Missouri side).

That's the only tax they don't pay.

I know people who had to work a second job to pay the real estate taxes.

Go to r/CFB which is filled with people which hate the SEC and yet it’s still a common sentiment on there to act like CFB is going downhill

Short version: Illinois takes a much bigger bite than Missouri.

Total state + local tax burden (share of personal income):
Missouri: 7.83% (ranked 39th-lowest) vs Illinois: 10.22% (7th-highest). Breakdown:
• MO ˜ 2.31% property, 2.59% income, 2.93% sales/excise.
• IL ˜ 3.81% property, 2.63% income, 3.78% sales/excise.
WalletHub

Property taxes: This is where Illinois really stings; its property-tax burden is among the nation’s highest, while Missouri’s is notably lower. (WalletHub’s burden components above.) For effective rates by state, see the 2025 property-tax comparison.

Estate/“death” taxes:
• Illinois imposes a state estate tax with a $4,000,000 exclusion (not portable).
• Missouri imposes no state estate or inheritance tax (none since 2005).

If you want the accountant’s bottom line: for the same income and house, you’ll generally owe meaningfully less in Missouri—especially on the property-tax and estate-tax fronts. Illinois’ total burden is ~2.4 percentage points higher than Missouri’s; that gap is large enough to matter in real dollars on a middle- or high-income household.
