i wouldnt trade him for anyone now because there would be no reason. he's been the absolute perfect coach in literally every aspect of coaching so far as we know.

we may find different later, but after this start and development and culture change we' ve seen, the original post is hardly informative.

If I may expound ….

There is a subset of A&M fans that has: seemingly appeared out of nowhere; lacks self-awareness; feels the need to post in every single thread; and starts rando topics, as if this board was their personal X account.

Carry on.

How about simply make it to a SEC championship game? A&M beat an awful Florida, a mistake prone Arky and an overrated Mizzou and the idiot subset of the A&M fanbase start running their mouths until the inevitable wheels fall off.

Awful?

No.

Arkansas?

Backup QB.

Missouri?

Overrated, but we still tore them apart.

A&M's a good team, and progress is being made under Elko. That's all I'm saying.

Then be patient and watch them grow. I agree that A&M is playing together moreso under Elko than at any time under Jimbo. Teams that had written them down as a W are having to strongly reconsider that and the schedule looks favorable.

That being said, it's a little early to ordain him ahead of a back-to-back national title winning coach.

We laid the hammer on Florida with our backup QB.

People keep forgetting that Reed is no Weigman.

If that's the trade off for bringing home hardware, I am personally good with it. It's not like the rest of the coaches in college football are all saints.

I'm not sure any ranked team would trade their coach for Deboer right now. He got gifted the most talented roster in CFB and has nearly shite the bed these last 2 weeks.

The culture thing takes care of itself if the coach wins, frankly. And it can be an albatross too.

It probably depends on what the definition of culture is. I think there are some different thoughts floating on it.

Jimbo Fisher checked out after receiving his contract extension, and it showed. Players were allowed to skip workouts, the stupid gold chains and flashy bullshite started to seep into the program, and the result was inevitably fatal.

Yes, buy-in from players eventually happens after a coach proves his worth, but what Elko did was arrrive, state clear expectations, got rid of players (even popular ones) who didn’t fall in line, and has been consistent to a letter. He’s an X’s and O’s no nonsense football guy, approachable with fans, and has high expectations.

It’s exactly what this program needed. Badly.

Three weeks ago this was definitely not the talk coming out of College Station. Maybe slightly overreacting to a big win over overrated Missouri? I’m not trying to temper your excitement, which seems warranted, but maybe hold off on extending him for 10 years and $100 million, right?

Agreed. It’s nice to have someone normal in here.

Smart has the skins on the wall. DeBoer is still a bit of an unknown for me. Elko is also a bit of an unknown right now. He needs more quality wins for me to believe.

Not quite at the top for me, but top 3 for sure. He's a good one.

My opinion.

Missouri is a fraud imo and A&M is riding super high because of that game.. They should have lost the Arkansas game. The could have lost to Bowling Green. They did lose to Notre Dame, who then lost to NLI.

A&M might be getting better.. and Elko might be a great hire.. but I don't think you can change the culture that fast on a team.

Year 2? Maybe.

Year 1? You are going to have a setback or two.. It just doesn't change that quick.

I also don't think Weigman is the guy. When he gets pressured, he makes some really bad decisions. Missouri couldn't get pressure. That will change against better teams.

And before someone says A&M is going to kick our arse.. I don't think it will be a beatdown, but A&M can definitely beat Texas.

That's not true. Us Aggies that actually graduated from Texas A&M and follow Aggie Football wanted Conner Weigman (when he was healed up and ready to go) to start when Coach Elko said he would be ready to start. Conner was not 100% (by far) before the Notre Dame game. Surprised he started and played in that 1st game. But I guess Game Day, Elko's first Head Coach game and probably Conner, all decided to roll him out against the Irish. Was not impressed with Notre Dame at all. Should be 6-0. Nobody is looking ahead. Only game and only talk that is going on is about Mississippi State. We are coming off a bye week, healing some injuries. Let's see if Coach Elko has the boys ready in that 1st quarter.
