Makes sense. UGA Alum had to become a barrister instead

Actually not a bad living

And join LSU in their new conference?

Exactly. If the SEC threatens to kick a university out of the conference for signing NFL practice squad players, what the hell do you think would happen in OP's scenario? It's always the most-watched SEC game of the season and the broadcast rights alone are worth 60-75 million, according to a quick google search.

Not to mention the fact that it's a pansy scenario.

It is an insane thing to do and the interest has all but disappeared....I have lost money on my tickets 2 straight years.

It's always the most-watched SEC game of the year. And I'm sorry you're only getting 200 dollars for your tickets instead of 600 like you used to.

In the two years of the expanded playoff, both teams from both games would be automatic playoff locks had they not played.

Alabama definitely would've finished in the top 4 of the final CFP last year with a regular season loss to Florida State and Oklahoma, no question about it.

This was my point with the expanded playoff and SEC going to 9 games. Are we trying to Win the national title or the Conference title? This game is more risk then it is a reward at this point.

What's the point of a rematch?

These conference champ games are outdated. Maybe they made more sense during the BCS. They don't serve much of a purpose now

I would have laughed at this until the 2024 SECCG when we lost Carson Beck.

Then Gunner's first start was against a top ten Notre Dame defense in a playoff game. It didn't turn out good.

Then Carson Beck's agent told him due to the injury he needed another year in college before entering the draft because he was damaged goods. But UGA had already moved on. So Beck went to Miami. All sorts of shite unfolded as a result of playing that game.

SEC would get destroyed by the media if the game was cancelled. The media kept running with the talking point last year that there's somehow an SEC bias because Ohio State, Virginia, and BYU all dropped in the CFP rankings after losing their conference title games but Bama didn't.

Sankey would get a TRO compelling the teams to play.

They could probably legally be compelled to play, but not who to play: scout team vs scout team. I'd watch it.

Agreed, but it should especially since we've went to a 9 game conference schedule and crowning a SEC champ doesn't require a head to head. I would hate it if Keelon or Gunner got knocked out of playing in the playoffs. SEC would have shot itself in the foot as far as the NC if that was to happen.

Both coaches just need to agree to sit all starters and let the backups play. It would be good experience in a great environment.
