I would like to see UGA and Bama just forfeit playing in the SECCG.

It's gonna be a slugfest. High chance of injury. We've suffered key injuries in the last few games. IMHO it's not worth it. Just take the bye and get healthy before heading into the playoffs. The ultimate goal is the NC, not the SEC championship. Thoughts???? (No I didn't forget UT. They just are not gonna be in contention by the end of the season with that offense)

Won't happen.

The conference makes too much money on the game.

I agree it no longer has the teeth it once had.

But, I don't want to see Bama and Georgia get kicked out of the conference.

Would be a good re-match

Agreed, but it should especially since we've went to a 9 game conference schedule and crowning a SEC champ doesn't require a head to head. I would hate it if Keelon or Gunner got knocked out of playing in the playoffs. SEC would have shot itself in the foot as far as the NC if that was to happen.

I would rather have the potential rematch in the CFP instead of the prospect of playing each other 3 times.

It is an insane thing to do and the interest has all but disappeared....I have lost money on my tickets 2 straight years. I initially thought it was due to lack of interest on the part of Texas fans but it happened again last year. Interest is down because it is nothing more than an exhibition game. The 2024 game was a good one because Texas would have like to have bragged about winning the conference in year one and UGA would have liked nothing better than to keep them from doing so but last year was pretty boring and not just because Alabama was out-matched....if there was the slightest chance that they had to win to get in the playoff it would have been closer and could have gone the other way. There is no need to play 10 SEC games a year. And the prize for having done so is 3 or 4 more games against playoff teams. It is ridiculous.

I don’t think Bama will even make it to the SECCG.

And join LSU in their new conference?

It would open both up to fines, loss of revenue sharing and liability for breach of contract in broadcasting rights.

I think the conference championship games end eventually or morph into a more structured qualifying/seeding stage for an expanded CFPs at some point.

Until then, teams will just have to buckle up and play while accepting injuries may happen. But, I also think conference championships and winning games matter. If they didn't, both teams could just silent quit and turn it into a B Team High School type game instead of accepting a forfeit and penalties.

This is true BUT if there was a tiddly winks match being televised in the time slot and nothing else the TVs in bars and restaurants would be tuned into that event just like they are the SEC Championship Game. I almost had to resort to giving tickets away to the 24 game and had it not been Alabama and a game close to home it would have probably been the same last year. Ticket prices to an event are indicative of interest in that event. for 2 years running ticket prices have been as low relative to inflation as they were when Arkansas was playing in the game.

The game itself is irrelevant since the playoff expanded. In the two years of the expanded playoff, both teams from both games would be automatic playoff locks had they not played. Just go back to the old days of crowning the team with the best record conference champs. If my team is a lock, no way I want to play that game and risk players getting hurt before the playoffs

Fine. But like was stated above. It's just an exhibition game. Be funny as heck if CKB and CKS decided to play it with their scout teams. There's more than one way for the head coaches to tell the SEC to pound sand......if it's an avenue they decided to pursue.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it becomes like the last week of NFL regular season where everyone rests their starters if they locked up a 1 seed or winning/losing doesn't change your place in the standings

It's the practical and pragmatic thing to do. Again, THE goal is the NC.

Not totally convinced Bama will be there but I fully agree with the sentiment. I mean it’s been like this a while now, but even more so with 9 games. frick that game.

I'd actually think a Scout team scrimmage would be interesting to watch. And, it violates no rules.

They’d never do that, however in the unlikely situation those teams have a combined one loss(both guaranteed playoff spots) I could see an nfl like scenario where you only play your scrubs

Maybe he was Murray’s teammate in hs and created an uncle rico/ray finkle scenario where if Aaron hadn’t been QB he’d have a different life
