Fine line between equal opportunity and special treatment. Your statement is everything that is wrong with PC culture.

I don't understand why anyone cares but despite my vexation regarding that, I find the reactions hilarious.

The polarizing nature of the discussion about it is fascinating. The actual subject and root of the conversation doesn't even move the needle for me.

Gender had little to do with it. If a male had been pulled from the soccer team to kick in that game and done the same thing he would have received the same reaction. It’s like the new guy at work, on day one if he starts to tell people what to do he loses all respect.

TBH, I think it's a part of a culture war that we're not a part of either because we're not old enough for it to be a hang up or because we're not tied to a political ideology that has so much to say about it.

I really don't think it was an accident Vandy never scored or got in field goal range.

Except for the speech, I don’t care one way or another about her whole story because I don’t have all the facts.

But for a new guy to give a speech at halftime and call out the team? No way does that fly. And a kicker? Haha. As a player I’d either be pissed and/or depressed about what is happening around me.

Imagine playing your arse off for years, getting humiliated and taking injuries. Then a FNG kicker walks in off the soccer team without shedding a drip of sweat on the field to tell you why you suck. Who allows this to happen? I’d be furious at anyone I thought responsible. Losing is bad enough without this.

That's what I was telling my buddy yesterday. Vandy's been bad, there's no doubt about it. But they haven't been 0 points to Missouri bad.

Was it this bad when people of color joined this league ?

Were there riots ? Demonstrations ?

No ?

No riots that I am aware of but there were definitely demonstrations and speeches made and all sorts of pontificating....but then those men of color went out and performed at a high level and even the pontificators thought, damn, this might be good. If old gal had gone and nailed a 40 yard field goal the reaction would have been much different on all sides. As it is Vandy is lucky they didn't kick off to start the game because that kick to start the game probably would have lead to players walking out right then.

Its damned difficult work to play football at Vandy...its a grind. The work is just as hard as it is at Alabama but success if far harder to come by....good football players, and Vandy has some, stick with it for the sake of their team mates, kind of like soldiers do not wage war for a flag but for their brothers on the battlefield. This old gal was marched into that group as a publicity stunt...that was never going to go over well in the locker room...then, apparently, she had the audacity to speak to the locker room at the half and instead of being humble and thanking them for the opportunity to be part of their team, she chewed their asses out for not having a proper level of enthusiasm when they made a first down. Then, for whatever reason, but probably to reduce the chances she gets blown up in front a TV audience, she goes out and squib kicks to start the half. All the while the media is making the story out to be equal to Jackie Robinson being called up....just a shite show all around.

If you look at the young woman's body there is not a glaring difference in her physical appearance, outside of being a woman, which would indicate she is less able to do what male kickers do...a lot of male kickers ain't necessarily physical specimen...they often get blown up on a kick off....or nearly killed when asked to fake a kick...it happens...we all like the idea of a kicker getting curb stomped trying to make a tackle or running for a first down. Thats one of the reason why we are so excited when they do get a first down, because it is unlikely. Usually it is not pretty....lots of unathletic shite happens most of the time...I think it is entirely possible that a female athlete could do what a male kicker does...but they should only do so after earning the respect of their team mates by being there for 2 a days and going through the same shite, albeit far different for kickers than linebackers, day in and day out. And for god's sake do not take your teammates to task for underperforming when you have NEVER performed and then put the cherry on top by going out and squib kicking to start the half...even if thats what you are told to do....unless you do not have the ability to do otherwise she should have kicked the ball down the field and told Mason after the fact that she wasn't a pawn, she was a football player. She wouldnt be any longer, no doubt, but she also would not have created this issue.....

Had she been a dude from the soccer team and did that shite she would have been lucky to make it out of the locker room. Most of the players at Vandy are from the south and are still taught to respect women....some are still young and immature enough to be scared of pretty girls...or any girl for that matter....but had it been a dude he would have none of that in his favor...someone would have put the arrogant fricker in his place, most likely a coach considering they were getting curb stomped. But this pretty girl, in her arrogance, had the audacity to apparently question the esprit d'corp of a team she was not a part of, when they were being curb stomped, and then went out and screwed the pooch. The only person who could get by with that shite is an older man who was seen as an authority figure or a young woman....had it been a peer he would have gotten an ear full at best and an arse whupping at worse....
