Fun fact, when Lee Ermey was cast as the drill sgt in Full Metal Jacket, he just winged it, but generally ran everything by production to make sure it fit the tone don’t film. When asked what he would say about Texas, he told Kubrick that it was a well known fact that in Texas, you’re either a Longhorn (a steer) or an Aggie, which meant that “you took it in the arse.” And the rest they say is history, as he delivered the famous line.

Same line was used years before in "Officer and A Gentleman" but it was Oklahoma, not Texas
