I can see him coaching until at least 75 and probably 2-3 more National Championships to his record at Bama.

I would think with his track record at Bama, 2 more Championships are very possible.

These statements always crack me up. Haven’t even watched, but you still have an opinion about his overall job this season.

This was probably his least talented team in a decade and he still almost won it all, without their normal dominance in the trenches. Id say it was one of his better coaching jobs.

I know why people are saying this, but a great coaching job doesn’t have your team losing to mediocre A&M and almost losing to weak arse Auburn and LSU teams (one true rival and one semi rival) and then dominating the one team that can match you in talent (UGA in SECCG).

In short, they have too much talent to have been in a position to lose multiple games in a weak SEC.

The portal has fricked old schoolers like him. A good team "1 or 2 players away" can reach into the portal and fix the roster.

The SECCG was certainly an outlier for them this year. The only game all season they looked like a dominant Bama team of the past. I just think with the new qb, losses in the draft, and lack of a dominant line, they did really good to only lose the 2 games they did, won a heisman, and were leading in the championship game. LSU dropped off a cliff with similar attrition in 2020. Of course bama came close to losing 3 others to bad teams, so i guess depends on how you look at it. If thats a down year for Saban, that says a lot.

Alabama had 19 or 20 5* recruits & 50 4* recruits . That's a lot of talent to be " developed "

Shocked that he " creates" so many NFL players with so little talent.

know why people are saying this

Because it’s the truth? The offensive line sucked for the year except for one game. You know football is won in the trenches right?

Not in the trenches. Where it actually matters. Do y’all watch the games of just star gaze?

Not now. They are stacked next year. Hopefully after next year he leaves.

Since 2015 he needed his benched QB to bring him back and COVID. He has been smashed in 2 other championship games. He fired his coordinator the week of to lose another. Now he makes terrible hires, refuses to fire them, and is too slow to react to changing times. Lastly, he is getting in his own way. He should keep his mouth shut, as he has for his whole career, and remained neutral. He has lost his edge and senses.

He is the Joe Biden of college football.

It would be astounding how quickly they go back to a sub .500 team.

Normally I'd say you're being dramatic, but seeing how happy he was for Kirby... it just doesn't mesh with a guy who wants to keep coaching for 10 more years.

Losing 9 games in 2 years and still be considered amazing, because of the circumstances seems like a win/win situation. Especially when you lose more games in your 2nd season. I don't blame him at all for taking that job. I'd say he did a good job, but I don't automatically think it transfer over to he would be some 1-2 loss type of coach. I would love to see O'Brien take over Alabama. I don't think Saban is even close to retiring. I will keep saying this until proven wrong.

He had abnormally bad circumstances to deal with. He basically took them from death penalty to competing. Franklin came into a more stable program and did even worse his first two years.

There’s a reason BoB was hired straight to the NFL and he was a good coach there as well, it’s just unfortunate he was maybe the worst gm in nfl history

I'd argue its helped the upper echelon of CFB more than its hurt. Jameson Williams, To'o To'o played a lot this year for Bama and obviously Jameson did well. Henry provided much needed depth. UGA won with Kendrick from Clemson, had Tykee Smith transfer in before his injury, and obviously everyone knows Arik Gilbert.

That’s literally what he did for the 2021 roster. And again for 2022.

I really hope Saban doesn't figure out this little nugget....
