They are playing him safe, but he was on point Saturday. He had three incompletions: one he threw away as he was rolling out of the pocket and two were dropped by the receivers.

The thing is....he (as all true freshmen do) will have a stinker of a game somewhere and hopefully the D can bail him out when it happens.

Like Tom Herman said, no one has any magic sprinkle dust to do wonders, not even St. Nick @ LSU or bama his first yr.

Urban Meyer went undefeated his first year at Ohio state. Fluke?

well... both of those coaches had a pretty outstanding résumé before taking their positions at Texas and LSU. Orgeron unfortunately is about as bad as you can get.

I won't beat a dead horse, but let's just say comparing Orgeron to either of those coaches is statistically a bad comparison.

9/12, 201 yards, 2 TD, 0 int isn't a bad day at the office...

If we can score 30+ points on 12 attempts, with our D we'll be in every game we play....but that is a tall order!

Not the problem tho.

Any coach that would have taken this job would have to deal with this O-line being thin and young and our D-line being thin right now.

Was O supposed to go kidnap linemen from other schools and put them on the line?

I was really impressed with how well composed he was as a freshman.

Honestly, I thought MSU might win this game because the qb might make some costly errors, leading UGA to be in a bad spot in their own territory.

But he looked really good. Defense was amazing and the running game looks really strong.

When is the next time UGA faces a stout defense? If it is awhile, I think your qb will be seasoned enough to avoid any game changing mistakes.

O could lose every game from here on out and they would continue to say it was the right hire. He has a thousand mile leash with these people strictly because he's from the bayou, there is nothing more to it.

Spoken like a true LSU fan. I appreciate your opinion of LSU and you have a right to express it. Your post is bottom of the barrel.

he also had A LOT more to work with than most 1st year coaches get (2011 was bad for OSU, but the Buckeyes were 12 - 1 in 2010)

plus, he had an easier schedule than Saban did at Bama or Kirby did at UGA

so there's that...

our next 4 weeks look like this:

Tenn
Vandy
Mizzou
BYE

then we get Florida in JAX

I have to agree with you, I think the likelihood of him making "game changing" mistakes is pretty low

LSU can never be "bottom of the barrel" w/ Mizzou in the mix. LSU isn't good, but they're a quantum level better than the Yankee Tigers

I don't think any one anticipated how terrible our OL was going to be. I expected growing pains in the offense while Canada implemented his system, but the shocker for me has been the undisciplined and soft defense.

We have some damn fine players on the team in their own right, but as a unit, they just aren't gelling.

Hold off until he has the chance to rebuild the Trenches. This has been a steady decline since 2011, and it could be for reasons beyond just recruiting.

But what the hell is wrong with Canada/Aranda? THEY were touted as the best in the business and all Ed was supposed to do was just step aside and let them run the show.

Why zero blame for your Coordinators or position coaches?

"They are playing him safe"

They opened up with a 60 yard flea flicker.

Real, real safe, IYAM.
